ICE my Linea

I would like to install ICE in my Linea Dynamic Edition.

Yesterday visited Motorsounds in Mulund and the owner quoted me as follows

1. Pioneer 4290 HU Rs. 6500
2. JVC Amp 4Channel Rs. 6000
3. Harman Components (Infiniti) 2 Sets @ Rs. 7500 per set.
4. Wiring & Installation Rs. 2200

Total Rs. 29700\=

+Rs. 3000 for 2Din JVC HU

My budget is 30K which can be stretched if I purchase the components slowly and steadily as per the availability of Vitamin M

Do you think this configuration is good or should I change it. Can you people recommed me a configuration which can be upgraded in the future with Sub-Woofer. I stay in Mulund. Can you recommend me a good installer in and around my place. Am a novice with regards to Audio.

Please Help

Talk to @Bass&Trouble or @Ramie-paaji - they should be able to guide you to someone.

You don't need 2 set of components - 1 set will do, in the front. For the rear, you can put 6x9 coaxials on the parcel shelf. If you want thump, you can get a subwoofer in the boot - all within your 30K budget.

You can also have other choices of amp - JBL, Infinity, Kenwood, etc.

I'd consider the following:
a. change of amp from JVC to maybe a JBL 1004 or Kenwood 8405
b. Damping of front and rear door.

when you add a sub the HU can be used to drive the rear speakers and the amp can be used to drive the front speakers and sub unless ofcourse you have to budget for a dedicated subwoofer (monoblock) amp. Ofcourse if you place the subwoofer in the trunk you'd have to damp the trunk too.

Hi buddy, first of all, let me tell you i had visited 'motorsounds' for an ICE upgrade. i was a newbie to T-BHP then. rest assured, we have better & well informed installers on this forum. (B&T or Ramie2400)

I am not saying motorsounds is bad but i had approached them as my car lacked bass. he had installed an amp & basstube. later i learnt that the amp's tuning was not proper. I would just give him 5/10.

also, the setup he has recommended does not seem ideal to me.

Good choice for components. I am not sure but there was an ad in the Classifieds for sale of 2 Infinity component sets. Can't see that ad in the new classifieds. You can use a 4 channel amp to power the components and a mono for subwoofer for this kind of a setup.

If you want to skip the rear components then another option is as following

Kenwood/Pioneer HU ~ 8k
Kenwood M845 Amp ~ 5k
Components (Infinity/DLS) ~ 7.5k
Sub ~ 5k (Bull Audio/Blaupunkt GTw1200) or iD CTX for 8k
Wiring / RCA + Install ~ 3k
Add another 3-4k for damping

Are components necessary of rear seats as the car is 100% self driven. Also any other option for Subs / Amp

For 30k, i would say-

Pio HU - 7k
Front : Illusion EL 6.1 - 6k
Rear: Co-axials (Ground Zero/Illusion/Kicker) - 4k
Sub - Ground Zero 30T/Kicker/ID - 6-8k
Amp - JBL/Kenwood - 5-6k
Installation - 1k

If the car is driven by you and no one else would be in the rear seats, just skip wasting money on the rear components. Use two channels of the amplifier for front components and bridge the rear channels for subwoofer.
If however you want speakers at the rear, just get some coaxials and power them with the Headunit. But, again, they are needed only to satisfy the rear seat occupants with some vocals so that they don't have to listen to the thump of the subwoofer only, so think about it. They do no good to the front soundstage.
