Help required for i10 ICE. Buget 25k

Hello everyone,

I have booked next gen i10 Magna. I need help in finalizing ICE for my new car. The budget is 25k (This is max, I cant extend over this)

As of now, I have decided on the below:

HU - 2 din - either Kenwood 5110 or Pioneer 6050UB
Front component - JBL 608c
Rear - JBL GTO948

Now, do I really need an amp to power the front components? If so, I will get a 2 channel amp from JBL. I donot need 4-channel as I dont have any plans to add sub as I dont want to compromise boot space.

Any advice will be very helpful!

@Fraser, even if you don't get a sub, a 4-channel amp will do your system a world of good.
a. The price of a 2-channel amp is not 0.5x price of 4-channel, it is >0.7x
b. The rear ovals will perform better when driven by an amp

Have you considered putting either a 10" sub on one side of the boot (in an FG enclosure) or an 8" below the front passenger seat?

DerAlte, thanks for your reply.

I dont think I will have enough budget to accomadate subs. I might add subs later on.

As per JBL india site, the price of 2-channel amp is 5500 and 4-channel is 9000 and for wiring it will be approx 1.5-2k.

So my idea for the setup with approx price is:
HU - 10k
Front comp - 6k
rear co-axials - 4k
2-channel amp - 5500
wiring - 1.5k
Total - 27k

hi for your HU - u can go for pioneer or kenwood
pio - 5250
fr comps - jbl (will be bright) or u can look out for kicker, mtx etc
rr fills - the same
4 channel amp from kicker or auditor
if u need a sub u can
wiring and inst in the rest
Be sure to audition a couple of installs and brands before you select them.. and there are lot of other brands you can choose to your taste other than jbls.

Check out the i 10 install in one of our fellow BHPians which was almost to the same budget as yours

you can go for a 2ch if the car is self driven and connect components through it. later on you can add a mono amp and power a sub with it. off the cuff, music is mostly enjoyed on long drives. this is a genuine problem with people having issues about boot space.. but you need to decide what to pick and what to sacrifice. i would recommend you listen to a few tracks of music in a car with a sub.. then check it out on a 4 speaker 6x9 setup.. if you are happy, you can skip the sub. if you get addicted, you can add a roof carrier or get one of those bags that fit along roof rails without a carrier so you can put stuff on top. but don't make a decision unless you've heard it first. nothing equals a sub in a car.

Hey Fraser:

Sorry for the delayed response. I just saw your PM. Can you check my post on the HU? I did fit the Pioneer HU that you had posted ought there. It fixed awesome. There was a very negligible gap, which you need not worry of! Check my posts, I have posted all the pictures here.

Re: Help required for i10 ICE. Buget 25k

3 months in a new car and still no ICE!

Bu I have taken the first step hough. Ordered kenwood x994 through ebay. I was very much surprised when I stumbled across the page - I was able to get x994 at the price of x794. Anyway I ordered immediately and it is on its way. The total cost inclusive of shipping is 13.6k!!

I need help in finalizing the other stuff now. For front components, I am not sure which to choose:

1. Infinity ref 6530CS
2. Illusion 6.1 comp

The car will be used only by me mostly, so the choice is
1. 8" sub - polk (No bigger sub please! i10 has a very small boot)
OR
2. Any good 6*9 - JBL (GTO948), Infinity (Ref9633)

I can spend another 20-25k (excluding the HU). But this should include a good 4 channel amp, wiring and damping. Please advice.

and by the way the car is next gen i10-Magna

infinity is great, i haven't had the opportunity to hear Illusion Electra. The Luccent is not bad.

for the sub, since you are anyway keen on getting an amp and getting the wiring done... i think you should add one. (it's easily detachable when you want to use boot space). but would strongly recommend that you hear a setup with a sub and one without a sub... i've also come across many people who don't like bass. it's mostly the older lot. but some odd young guys also i've come across love the golden indian oldies where adding sub wouldn't make any difference unless you're into remixes. (what's your taste in music?)

say a 4 channel amp - 8k
wiring - 3k
components - 6.5k
either co-ax or woofer - 4-7k
(very broadly speaking)

another thing also that co-ax would be useful if 4 people travel in car or you use the rear seat. if you drive yourself, i would vote for the sub. components in front are good enough, no real need for 2 speakers at back for front seat usage.

Re: Help required for i10 ICE. Buget 25k

Today I went to few shops for an estimate. Go the below:

Shop - 1

Infinity REF6530 - 7000
Infinity 6933i Coaxial - 6500
Blaupunkt Velocity 4 channel amp - 9000
Ghost wiring kit - 1000
Installation - free

Total - 23.5k

Shop-2

JBL GT6-S266C comp - 4800
JBL 12" sub with enclosure - 4800
JBL 644 amp - 7800
Scosche wiring kit - 1300
Installation - 2000

Total -app 21 k

I listened to both these setup and I liked the 2nd one better. The infinity had crisp and clear vocals, but the bass was missing(the comp mainly). Maybe the tuning was not proper.

Please let me know if there are other better options other than this.

Re: Help required for i10 ICE. Buget 25k

The S644 amp should not cost you more than 6.5k.

Keny Hu-13k
Frnt Compos-Illusion EL 6.1-6k
Sub GZ-6k
Jbl 1004-9k
Wiring-1500
Damping-3k

So you will be done with it 26k excluding HU

Another Option

HU-Kenny-13.5k
Compos-Jbl 608c-5k
Sub Jbl-5k
Jbl 1004-9k
Wiring-1.5k
Damping-3k

24k excluding HU
