PCPranav's XYLO ICE

Hi all,
my sincere apologies for this long silence; couldn't find enough time to upload images.

Final ICE setup:
- HU: JVC KD DV-7405
- Front Comps: IA EL 6.1
- Rear Comps: IA EL 6.1
- Amp: GZ 4110HPX
- Wiring: EQ, Scosche

Believe me, the system is rocking; kinda giving me 'surround sound' !

Sharing herein some of the numerous pics clicked (not necessarily the installation order), hope you enjoy.
(image quality may be low; that day my digi-cam wasn't around, so clicked using handy-cam 1 MP !)

the above ends my ICE setup. Initially I had thought of putting a LCD (reference images below), but in the end dropped the idea !

I guess not going for a sub is a good idea. Since its a big vehicle, amping both the front and rear speaker sets will be required. He can use 2 channels each of the amp to do so.

Later, just add a good mono amp and a sub

Also, can you give me an idea of how much it costed to damp the monster?

Hi Raj: reasons for not going for a Sub:
i) Finance, was going way out of budget !
ii) The current sound is actually more than enough for us.
iii) from the most Subs that I have seen, they take lot of space, which I didnt want to compromise upon. Ya, I did see one which was slim rectangular box (the gentleman got from SG/HKG), which could be placed in the small space available on the rear door (so called dickey !), could be made detachable; but costs big.

If I could know about your setup ?

Hi PredatorW: So, currently I have EL61 comps for both front & rear, hooked to 4Chn GZ4110HPX AMP - serves my purpose. At the moment not thinking to put more money on ICE upgrades, rather I'd invest in other areas as required

Even i was keen on not losing out on space.

Ramie did a good job on that by designing a compact sub box which fits exactly between the rear jump seats. so no space is lost. my car's rear jump seats is comfortably usable & that small box does not eat on luggage space too.

I bought a 7 seater scorpio with jump seats in boot (and not a 8 seater) so that i could fit a sub!

you can see my setup here. Complete setup written below in the post.

Good choice of equipment. But without a sub you are not running your system to its potential. The EL 6.1s are very good speakers but they really cant handle much below 70-80 Hz. The bass is surely lacking in your system. The cheapest option would be to go for 6X9 coaxials to get some of that bass back.

my vehicle seating is 2 (w/EL6.1) + 3 (w/EL6.1 with amp underneath) + 3 = 8 seater, so no much space in the rear!

I agree to your point of Bass; but trust, the current system is good enough for me at the moment. Now that I wont remove any comps :
i) can i just add a pair of 6x9 coax placed somewhere near the last seat - connected to the HU directly ?
ii) what kind of cost is involved ?
iii) ofcourse, suggest a reasonably priced 6x9

Otherwise, the most distant possibility could be to add a mono amp with sub !

You can easily drive most 6X9 co axials directly from your HU. Decent coaxials are available from 2.5K onwards but since you are using components even for your rear doors, a dedicated sub would be a better choice. You don't absolutely need a mono drive a sub. Any bridged 2-4 channel cheap amp can easily drive a low power 10 or a 12 inch sub. My Bull Audio 12inch sub is driven by 2 bridged channels of my Ground Zero amp and sound is fantastic.

pranav your setup seems quite good and apt of a vehicle of this size. As others have rightly pointed out it only lacks a good sub. You are right that budget may not permit this luxury now but just audition with a good 12" sub so that you can check out on what you are missing and acquire the same when budget permits.
It would be helpful if you could put out the cost breakup of your present setup.

I agree, its just that Im parking aside the Sub matter for a near future !

as for the present setup: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...ice-setup.html was the starting point, where you'll find the costings. Roughly I spend Rs.37K.
