I suggest you get better speakers than OEM. Check the HU power rating. If I am not mistaken most OEM HU power ratings are 40W per channel at 4ohms. And so are the OEM speakers.

Majority of the speakers available in the market irrespective of brand run at 2ohms depending on the power rating they handle.

So look for speakers that have power rating of 50 to 100W at 2ohms and you will have good performance from them as they would match very well with the OEM HU.

Is that Rs. 1500+ tax per speaker or for all 4. It is per speaker you will get far better speakers than the OEM speaker in the open market for 3000/pr. Bull Audio and JBL's GT5 series are 2 that come to mind.

Its for 4. I enquired JBL and they are giving at 2000 for 2 speakers.

So your choice is the OEM speaker Rs. 1500 for a set of 4 or JBL @ Rs. 4000 for 4.

Obviously the JBL speaker should sound better. Most OEM speakers are terrible and those that are not (BMW 7 series, Jaguar, etc..) are very very expensive (compared to equivalent 3rd party systems).

One last piece of pertinent but tongue-in-cheek advice (see link)

I have been owning a Honda jazz for the last 6+ months and have been very very happy with the car except for a few missing features, mainly the USB port and the Bluetooth.

I dont think anyone in this forum has fitted an USB/BT in Jazz or done an ICE upgrade.

Now, The Jazz X comes with a USB port and I have contacted Honda several times but the answer is 'not possible'.

I have seen that Bluetooth is available as an accessory for the Honda Jazz in Uk and other countries.
Also, it is available as accessories for the Jazz/Fit in different countries. Some links Here are some other links -

Honda USB Audio Interface - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories

Honda / Acura 2003+ GROM USB/iPod/AUX interface car kit

I am willing to try any of these options but let me admit that I dont have the confidence or expertise to do this stuff myself.
So, to all the experts out here, please suggest what is the best option? How to procure those and how/where to get those fitted in Hyderabad?

I am very much satisfied with the sound quality of the inbuilt system and do not plan to change it unless there is no other option

Adi,

Perhaps, this could help : Adapter for Hondas. Credit to BHPian Rutvij for the link.

Shame on Honda to not provide such a basic feature in its premium hatchback. Also, lack of USB support was the primary reason for my upgrading the Civic's HU.

Thats the one and here is the procedure.

Though I agree that missing USB is a big turn down in a car at this price, I have faced some different issues in my week old Jazz X :

1. I have a huge music collection(around 120GB's) used mostly in my iPod classic.
2. If you want to browse for a particular artist/album/song it's really painful with the OEM single line display in JAZZ. Another point that adds up the frustration is the accessory splash that's displayed on the iPod while it's connected to the car stereo because of which you can't control the music from iPod.:Frustrati

Given these problems, I would suggest why not go for a good HU having atleast a multi-line display and an ability where you can control the music from the iPod while it's connected?

Something like this.
Buy Honda Fit/Jazz DVD/GPS Touchscreen [SSAS-HONDA030]

If you want to do so, just connect the IPOD to aux-in. Why use the USB port?
But I am not sure how will you control the music through the IPOD when you are driving?

@GTO and @wildon - thanks a lot for your answers.
Its really a shame that Honda is not providing such basic features in what is supposedly poistioned as THE most premium hatchback in the country!
On top of it, they are not ready to provide the necessary adapters at an additional cost!

The procedure as shown below looks simple enough. Is it advisable to get the BT dongle as well from GROM?
The biggest question is - how to procure it?

I tried using the iPod with the Aux-in cable but the sound quality has a noticeable difference compared to USB.

Also, when you have a huge music collection it's almost impossible (For anyone not just the driver) to navigate through the single line OEM display! Just my 2 cents! :)

I was contacted by some one from Delhi (fellow member) who can source it for me.
It is made by XCARLINK - a UK based company.

The total cost for the USB/ipod adapter plus bluetooth module is 5300/-
What say guys? Should I go for it?

As I said in my earlier threads, buying shouldn't be a problem. But I heard from the Honda dealer that there is no interface to connect these. Check this out Connecting USB
Now if you have something of that sort, we can go ahead with the investment. As you said, I am bit scared to open up the main dashboard. I was able to open up the glove box but couldn't exactly reach the hind of HU. If someone, knows a mechanic and can post a picture of Jazz hind side of HU, we can make a call.

Just saw in whysoserious thread. HU getting replaced

Tried to zoom as much as possible, guess I am not getting it. It lacks clarity, probably due to low resolution of the photo.

@whysoserious - Can you please confirm if we can can buy an adapter and connect to HU, since you have done the surgery already :D
Else if possible post a picture of the rear of HU. I pm'ed you too. We Jazz owners are desperate for this upgrade. Thanks

Sorry mate, Somehow I didn't get a notification for this message and while going through some of my old posts came across this one. I know it's been quite a while, how's your car doing?

Anyways, when I upgraded the ice, there was no separate adapter available for jazz. Poona motors in Pune did the surgery to take out another set of cable from the HU. I am not sure if that's the case even now, they may have an external adapter so that you don't need to tweak with HU.
