While the Ashram attendants appear to be crooks at least their fuel is decent.

Though I'd look for Shell, Reliance and Essar pumps and use any of those I find even if I have a few litres left for my tank to reach reserve. BP / IOC / HP are a second choice only for an emergency.

If you're using a VW which as you say isn't too appreciative of bad fuel, try to fill at Shell / Reliance / Essar as often as possible.

I am not sure of any specific BP station in this route (Tindivanam - Pondy), but I often use Chandra Agency (IOC dealer) near Marapalam, Pondicherry.

I have never faced any issue here.

Yes, i also used to refill from here but sometimes the attendants tries to cheat by not zeroing the meter. Hence wanted to check with fellow bhpians here. Thanks.

I'm guessing someone has already highlighted/warned about this BP petrol pump @adyar, just before the bridge over the Adyar river (next to Fortis hospital).

Stopped to fill petrol in my Activa; told him to fill for 150Rs. The guy before me had filled for 70Rs. Kept my eye on the counter; while he tries to start filling without resetting the counter. Pointed out loudly that he hadn't reset; to which he then mutters something and resets the counter.

Folks, keep a lookout if you ever fill at this pump.

A new Shell pump has opened at Madipakkam (Ganesh Nagar) near to Kotak Mahindra bank. I haven't tried it out yet. Just giving a heads up in case anyone requires.

I stay on ECR, so preference would be the pumps closest to same.

A new Essar bunk has opened at Medavakkam(Next to Nilgiris/Cascade restaurant).

Mileage is similar to that of Shell's petrol. But petrol is only 0.50 paise costlier than PSU bunk rates. Don't know about diesel.

I haven’t maintained log charts but average mileage as calculated by my Scorpio MID on highways shows up to 17.6 kmpl filling Essar diesel and going on highway runs. The smooth running of the engine is on par, almost, with Shell diesel. My preferences are Shell, Essar and Reliance in that order for highway runs. BP / HP from known pumps, after that. I try to avoid IOC.

Seems like the same place where an Essar pump was operational few years back. I used the Petrol from Essar in Thoraipakkam-Pallavaram 200 ft road and found the mileage is similar to that Shell Petrol. Thanks for the update.

This petrol pump is now open and operational. Services are just getting setup.

I was telling my wife the same yesterday in the same route. They have two more between Padur and Navalur as well.

Yeah. There was only one near the Rajakilpakkam signal. People living after that had to make a round trip for filling up to the other side.

Now that we have Shell opening up on this side, I don't need to make anymore round trips

But strangely my SCROSS 1.6 reacts the opposite way. When tanked up with HP or BP diesel the instantaneous FE on the MID does not cross 20. With Diesel from IOC Bunk the MID crosses 22~23 at decent highway speeds (100~110kmph). With Shell Diesel the car becomes a bit difficult to control in the city with acceleration surge and subsequent heavy braking.

For Petrol I find my bike becomes smoother with HP Petrol (Ordinary) as compared to IOC or BP.
