Raja Tyres - Chennai

My "new" OHC tyres were hard as rock so needed to change them.
Thanks a lot to 2theMax (Hari) for recommending and accompanying me.

Picked up Hari from his home and we were on our way.
To tell you the truth it was a trip to see the place rather than go and buy the tyres.

The tyre I had narrowed down was AD07 and was waiting around for sometime for that. I was getting tired of waiting and "higher powers" (read : wife) had other plans.

Anyway I got a set of Appolo Acclere 195/60/14 on stock vtec alloys.

The place is pretty easy to find.

Raja Tyres & Spares - Google Maps

+ Honest opinion is given, no sales push.
+ Very professional and polite staff.
+ Price (Best compared to the "other" places I've went)

- Location / Parking space "if" you end up waiting.

From the reviews and stuff I've read its a "jack of all trades". Does't excel in anything. Pattern looks nice. Got them balanced, then alignment and then Nitrogen was filled for "free".

Initial impression about Acclere is good.
  • Ride quality has improved a lot and the car is a lot quiet now.
  • Wheel spin even at the slighted hint of the gas (in 1st and 2nd) has stopped.
  • The old set was so hard I could feel even small stones on the road, now I don't.
  • Tyre noise is there on less than perfect road but not too bad.
  • Grip feels decent.
  • Wet grip (It rained in Chennai seems to be good.
I'm yet to see how it feels when pushed.

The only thing I don't like is the car feels a bit bogged down at low revs.
If I give it the beans it goes still the old tyre spin gave it a bit more character i kinda miss that.

Michelin does't meet my requirement. XM1+ are good tyres but its completely lifeless on the limit. My bro's car have them and simply put I'm not sure its worth the premium.

Just to think of it I was gunning for AD07. ER60's are on my dad's car, couple of friends have ES100 do I ended up with Apollo.
First impressions I'm happy, will update after this sunday

Were your friend clueless too ?

I've seen this happen and the justification is since it a "new" tyre and alloy they will be "perfect" and will be in sync and no balancing required.
A load of bull if you ask me. I'm not sure what they "dont" do it. They get the money after all right ?

I make it a habit to ask what all they will do. In this case it was as per my expectations.

Price, yes of course at the end its my hard earned money. Shops near Velachery was quoting "INSANE" prices. I don't fancy giving away around 2k more just like that for a set of 4 tyres.

Yeah, I had to show the weights on my rims to make him understand.

I made an enquiry last night,. the XM1+ costs 4100 at LALs. My deal was 4100 * 4 - 16400 for Michelin XM1+ and 14k for set of 4 rims! plus 900 for A & B.

Hi Guys, All the below alloys are from Raja Tyres. I would like to know which would best suite Oyster Grey i10.

SSW is quoted at 16k for a a set of 4.
Veloshe is quoted at 14k for a set of 4.

Yoko A-Drive 185 60 R14 is quoted at 3.4K per tyre. The buy back was also reasonable 8400 rs (old tyres + rims)

Guys please comment.

The one held up to the car looks great. The colours should match.

yzfrj, yeap this is the one. *yzfrj* dude, I have quoted your name and also directed him to this post on Tbhp. Guys, what do you think of the 3rd alloy? this is SSW which is kinda 16k for a set of 4.

Any references how much Veloshe would cost else-where?

I went there with the help of 2theMax from the forum. His swift tyres were changed from there.

3rd set its kinda "blingy" IMO
