Re: Car Painting - Mr Senthil (Teynampet, Chennai)

I just got my car paintwork ( for left door, left rear, bumpers) done from Mr.Senthil

Good:
Very skilled - top class finish and color matching. Very impressed
Price was very reasonable for the total work done
Very co-operative and helped for insurance (surveyor etc)

Bad:
None whatsoever

I really recommend this guy !

You mean a paint booth ? If he had he would not come cheap.

Painting the bumpers is quite a simple job.

Agree absolutely even with black. It seems black and white are not colours, but they are the colours to beat especially black.

Guys, if the painter does not have a dust proof paint booth, it is a compromise. The dust settles down on the fresh paint and leaves blemishes.

Re: Car Painting - Mr Senthil (Teynampet, Chennai)

John agreed that painting the bumpers is not a big deal. And given the monetary advantage of getting the work done at these places, it is quite tempting.

However, I am paranoid about leaving my car anywhere for some work without supervision, as are a lot of other people. So theres a level of risk involved in leaving the car in these places.

Secondly, if you take it to your Authorized Service Center, and they mess up, you can ask them to redo the work. In these places, for the cheap cost at which your getting the work done I dont think you can claim anything from him if he messes up.

Re: Car Painting - Mr Senthil (Teynampet, Chennai)

A Santro in the family was badly banged up and the rear fender and the LHS rear door were damaged. The LHS rear fender had a severe dent and the door had a deep gash with a prominent black stripe running across almost the entire length of the door.

On reading the positive reviews, I gave the car to Mr. Senthil. I was also short on time as I was going outstation. Senthil kept his promise both on the timeline and the quality of work. There is no mark of the dent whatsoever and he has been spot on with the color matching.

Unfortunately I did not take the before work pics to show the transformation.

cheers

Re: Car Painting - Mr Senthil (Teynampet, Chennai)

I just got off the phone with Mr. Senthil.
He supposedly has made a separate room for painting but not a booth.
He was quoting an amount of Rs. 27000 for a complete paint job of my Santro LS 2001. Metallic Silver.
It is very expensive as it costs the same at BOSCH service and HMPL.
I was hoping it to be around 14-15k.
He said it will take a minimum of 15 days for the complete paint job.
I am taking the car in this evening for a physical examination and a final quote.
I hope he is reasonable or I am heading towards BOSCH.

Re: Car Painting - Mr Senthil (Teynampet, Chennai)

Guys, there are a few major scratches on the front and rear bumpers on my Optra. I need to get the bumpers painted at the earliest. Do you guys recommend getting them painted by Mr. Senthil?

I get my Optra serviced from Ignite, and they have quoted a price of 3500/- per bumper. They will also do the ORVM's and the door pulls for the price of the bumper. I don't know how good Ignite is with painting and all. But they are confident that they will do a proper job.

I'm a bit confused. Any suggestions? Can post pics if you guys need to see the scratches. Thanks in advance

Sorry, to add to your confusion, you can also try Privilege Carz Spa/Motomall as they have added a paint booth a few months back. Had my friend's black accord painted and detailed there with good results.

I had personally visited Mr.Senthil's workshop.
His father has been in the business for ages and he has modernized with usage of quality products.
He has been trained at DuPont Lab and he uses only 3M and DuPont products as in any A.S.S.
So the cost will be almost the same and the finish will be really good.
He has a painting room where he can paint Individual parts.

I refrained from giving my car for the paint cause I was quoted Rs30K and I was not ready for that amount at that time, may be after few months.
