BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks

BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks-ldt-launchbharatbenzdsc_4229-large.jpg

BharatBenz launches its light-duty range of trucks today. The 914 & 1214 series trucks are targeted at the haulage segment, while the 1217 series is positioned for the construction segment.

The launch includes a week-long event during which 1,200+ customers have been invited to take a closer look at the new trucks. BharatBenz also opens up its manufacturing facility and test track to visitors, who will witness first-hand the testing & manufacturing processes.

The light-duty Trucks, based on the FUSO Fighter / Canter platform, have been heavily localised. They are powered by the 4D34i four-cylinder CRDi engine with 140 Hp & 170 Hp, for the Rigid & Tipper models respectively. BharatBenz claims that their light-duty trucks offer 10% higher fuel economy than the competition.

Re: BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks

The BharatBenz's Light-duty trucks were on display at the Asianet Cochin Auto Expo 2013 which concluded last Sunday. But amidst their and TATA's giant trucks these lost attention of visitors.

Is the "4D34i four-cylinder CRDi engine" also derived from the Canter engine that Eicher uses in its LCVs? At the 2010 Auto Expo, Eicher had displayed a BS-IV compliant, CRDI version of the same. Curious to know how much the two versions differ.

Yes base of both are same. One grew in india(eicher) other grew in japan(fuso). So it's VE versus BB now!

Pricing seems to be very competitive. A bare chassis and a cab version can be a good platform for building a camper as well.

Re: BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks

To me it looks like a grown up TATA SUPER ACE!

The headlights, door panels, windshield carry similar design cues between them.

Daimler owns a majority in FUSO. These light trucks are adapted FUSO products.

Yes, precisely. I think it's TATA who copied the Fuso Canter and not the other way round. As mentioned in the opening post by GTO, these are based on the Fuso Canter and Fighter platforms. Daimler AG of Germany owns approximately 89.29% of Mitsubishi Fuso anyway (MFTBC).

Smart move from Daimler AG. Instead of bringing in their own Atego range, which also caters to the 7.5t to 16t category, it's better to bring in the Asian variant and keep the costs low. This segment is much more price sensitive than the heavy haul fleet segments where premium products can still sell without much sweat.

Re: BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks

I guess this must be the first sighting of one of these (1214) in our part of the world, but the truck does not look brand new, given the art thats already made to it

Re: BharatBenz launches its Light-duty Trucks

Dear Team

I have planned to buy two BharatBenz 1217C fully built Tippers. Can someone post the comparison table which contains details and price of same capacity tippers from TATA, Ashok Leyland & Mahindra.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think Tata, Ashok Leyland or Mahindra have have a tipper in that tonnage, Mahindra does not have a tipper and both Tata and Leyland tippers are 16 tonne ones, they do not have a 9 tonne payload tipper

Having said that, you can buy their chassis and get the tipper mechanism built on them

There is not much utility value in under 10 tonne tippers, mainly because they are uneconomical to run, its possible to run a higher capacity tipper with less load but not vice-versa

How are the finance terms and conditions, wonder how Bharat Benz helps customers finance their vehicles
