That's totally wacky !! If it was painted black and had a classic boxy body like the London cabs, minus those crazy stickers, it would definitely look super Cool!!

There are buses operated by Tirumala-Tirupathi devasthanams in Tirumala. They are also looking like this only. If any one has you can share!

Bombayites and frequent expressway users might have seen similarly designed buses operated by Penguin holidays. Don't have any pictures of those but here's their website - Penguin Holidays.in and the buses are here - http://www.penguinholidays.in/photo_gallery.htm

Buses inside Ramoji film city

A dumb question: Why are all these buses Leylands? To give that vintage look, is it not better to use an SFC truck chassis, of course instead of the load body, there should be a proper bus body built over it?

EDIT: The first pic in this thread - which make is it?

Re: Commercial Vehicles : The Cool or Wacky Thread

A dumb question: Why are all these buses Leylands?

# guess because of the wheel base of the bus(since all the buses seems to be a viking/12M buses). more over i may not be right in that point..but still i have felt that leyland buses carry much more proportionate body when compared to Tatas.

EDIT: The first pic in this thread - which make is it?

# the first bus seems to be a leyland 12M from the steering wheel.

Thanks for confirming. I felt the same too, from the positioning of the steering wheel

It's got nothing to do with wheelbase, is what I think. Just check the gallery pages of penguin holidays. You can find a TM bus also (must be the LPO1613/1616).

But now, I guess it might be because of the somewhat longer front overhang compared to TM buses.

I do agree to your point that an AL 12M bus looks better proportionate than a comparable TM or Eicher bus.

Re: Commercial Vehicles : The Cool or Wacky Thread

I am sorry, but I dont see anything either cool or wacky about a truck mounted concrete mixer. These thing are a common sight in almost every big city nowadays. Though I have to say, this particular mixer seems to be a very bad one.

Re: Spotted something strange in Delhi

Hi guys, I saw this strange looking four wheeler in Mumbai and not in Delhi, but since the thread was already there I wanted to use it .
Other day I saw this dumper, looks like home made unit.
It is used to pick up sand, cement, gravel, rabbid, any thing and goes to different place to just empty it by turning that tray upside down.
It is a single cylinder deisel engine with almost all controls a moderate car should have, but everything is crude and dangrous, including the racket it makes when the engine is running.

Veerji,

Such vehicles are the poor man's JCB.

BTW this Jugaad type jeep doesn't match with this thread. Here something strange like Navigator was spotted.

You could have posted it in Weird and Whacky mod jobs thread instead.

Cheers!

Re: Spotted something strange in Delhi

IIRC this 'jugaad' is a 4 x 4 type vehicle used on construction sites and made by a company in Pune. I will try to find the link. Have also seen the manufacturing plate on one of these on a worksite close to office which mentioned the name. Saw it online but a long time ago and relegated to memory.

Edit.

Check this link.
