re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

I am a bit confused. I am happy to see the vehicle. Why did they put RE tag on it? they could have easily sold it as a private vehicle. Now, its purely a commercial vehicle.

Any more details would be welcome! Price?? Interior shots?

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

I like it - atleast with a pulsar engine under the hood it should sound far far more awesome than the auto-like exhaust of the nano

I think it was intended to be a vehicle for commercial purposes. I see it as a replacement for the humble tuk-tuk and not a Nano-beater by any means. As a matter of fact, this will save Nano from taking on the taxi role!

I'd say - good for Bajaj as a huge step up from the RE tuk-tuk. Not a personal car by any means.

EDIT - hormazdsorabjee: Bajaj says RE60 is available for Renault-Nissan to market under their brands. Interesting to see if they take it 45 minutes ago from Twitter for BlackBerry®

Not even in the wildest of dreams!

Well

Seems the cost cutting and 200cc engine are pretty much done to put this as an auto rickshaw replacement rather than a personal use car IMO.

For an 1Lac auto this takes the .

Other than that, you would feel you were sold an lemon. Low emissions are welcome, but what about safety?

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

This just looks like their RE autorickshaw with another wheel. And its a 200CC engine?? Are they serious in calling this a car?

This looks more like a glorified auto-rickshaw! Just imagine the auto drivers buying it and using it with the rear doors/ side portions removed...

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

^^^

When the current Autorickshaw costs Rs. 1.6L ++ as a three wheeler why would this be close to 1L? - Possibly the question should be that if the Nano base variant is 1.35L why is the Autorickshaw at 1.6L ++

On the other hand if the Nano base is 1.35L then this should not be more than 1L.

Agree this is one way to make the Nano look really exotic reminds me of the Reva. So what do we call this vehicle - which safety tests does it pass, and how fast can it go safely. (I guess more than a rick but ..)

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

This photo of the interiors shows something interesting.

The Bajaj Qute (RE60)-1325575083b4379.jpg

There is a fare meter mounted near the glovebox!!! Bajaj seem to have targetted the taxi/auto market right from the beginning!

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

To think that this was conceived initially as a Nano competitor is blasphemy. No wonder Renault/Nissan quietly backed off.

Precisely. For me, it now looks like a 4 wheel version of the current Bajaj RE. It doesn't look like a car at all. I don't know what role played by Renault-Nissan to add another additional wheel .

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

So we'll have these running on our streets now?Trying to act like auto rickshaws? :/

They haven't revealed the pricing yet. shouldn't exceed 1 lakh

And if its <1 lakh it will make their two wheelers look horribly expensive

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Is it 800cc or 200cc?
Bajaj Auto launches low cost car RE 60, promises 40 km per litre
Can a 200CC engine generate sufficient power to lug a car for 4 people?
But some people will be interested to buy this car looking at the impressive mileage figures.
Edit: Looks like they corrected the link.

A rickshaw is 150cc and I've seen it hauling 6+ people regularly.
