Re: Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2012

The showcased VOLVO 9400 (1st picture) is a nice attempt and should ideally replace all the current intracity Volvo A/C buses, because it is the best economic replacement for the government.

Tata Ultra Series showcased will be the most sought after choice for current LCV owners as the loading bay is situated much lower (Closer to the ground) than the current 407.

I am not sure by coach if you mean a completely built bus with AC and seats. But if so, my guess for a completely built bus was around 80 to 90 lakhs for a single axle Volvo bus. I may be wrong but I am interested in knowing what these travels pay for the Volvo buses as well as know about the comparative costs between brands.

Dear Ashley2,

Is the front axle mechanically linked to RA2 for synchronised steering or is the RA2 steering only reactive to the steering forces ?

Re: Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2012

The steering wheels of MAN and AMW are looking chinese and quite uncomfortable. Rather, the Steering and instrument console of the Tata multi-axle seems to quite high quality.(straight extract from Prima) but still extremely wonderful and brings a pleasant look to the bus.

The bus in the first image is a 9100, not a 9400. It is a low cost offering from Volvo. It would be ideally aimed at STUs.

Re: Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2012

If I am not mistaken, Delhi Transport Corporation has recently bought in some AL buses in
Orange color.
They look very similar to the JanBus shown in the above picture.
They have the same headlight, grille and fog lamp design and arrangement.
Will try to take a picture once I spot one again.

Cheers and Drive Safe.

Yes, the fully built bus. That is what I was told by a private bus operator during 2002/03. Could have gone up now.

Re: Commercial Vehicles @ Auto Expo 2012

I strongly believe the optare's solo would be a great choice for intra city mass transport systems, like the one they have in Ahmedabad (Bus Rapid Transport System). The current choice of buses in the BRTS is not the best.

This time coach is derived from Marcopolo range instead of Hispano as earlier. This seems to be great product by many means. By spec seems to be comparable with all Multi axle coaches currently available in India.
Great pictures, Ashley2! Thank you very much. Information about 4 wheelers are available in plenty, but very little information about the bigger monsters. Thanks for covering them!

I particularly loved this Tata. Would love to see some high end buses from AL and Tata on roads.

What is this Stile from AL? MPV? or a pickup van? I've not seen these on road at all!
