FYI camper can be registered as Privet vehicle,
Here are some random pics of privately registered Xenons.

^^I was talking about the camper Nikhil, though one of the bhpian has fought a case and got his camper registered on white plates.

Good catch. This looks to be the same 3.0L Dicor that is in the Sumo Gold. So I suspect. And if it is, I suggest a wait-and-watch approach. There are some problems with the Gold that it is already making it's entry in the used car market.

Now this is what's really wanted. Unlike the stripped to the bare Xenon RX this looks more VFM and having all necessary features.
Way to go.

But that is more of a replacement for the 207, ain't it?

Btw, RX here stands for Rigid Suspension. The RX variants are meant for heavy loads. So any one who is considering the RX, please remember that the ride comfort at low loads will be bad.

Is this available in BS 4 city? if yes, any pricing information.

Man, this is so tempting. I wish I could replace my Ritz with this.

The 2.2 is available.
This one is so blatantly BS3 (from the first set of pics).

^^That I am aware of at 10+ lacs its just way too expensive, I was talking about this 3.0 Dicor one only, at 7 lacs onroad, it would made great sense (to us, for other it sill will be very non sense).

I meant the Xenon RX is a pucca commercial one with the front rigid suspension and the corrugated loadbay, while the Xenon XT is supposedly lifestyle with a slightly high price.
The Xenon crew-cab makes it perfect in the middle, though personally IMO, another variant deleting the power windows and power mirrors would also have been good.

Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

Jeepster- thanks for the news of the launch of a mid range Xenon.
Unfortunately the dealers in Coorg have not heard of this variant as yet.
The Tata Commercial vehicle dealer sent me to the Tata Passenger dealer, and neither of them had even remotely heard of it.
They had RX and XT versions respectively, even the TATA website does not carry any info.

Do you know if there is a 4X4 variant?

Any updates on this vehicle will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

Whether Camper ( or a vehicle with similar seat and load capacity ) can be registered as private vehicles depends upon the state.

In AP, Camper and its predecessor Utiliti were privately registered for a few years but later on that was stopped and it is now registered as a commercial vehicle.

Eliciting information from sales rep about Camper is quite a task in itself. While I was planning to buy one way back in 2002 ( the very first specimen) I inquired about the tyre life. Pat came the reply - 4000 kilometres for a 235 70 R 15 !!! And he was very annoyed I was asking the sundry details like the clutch life, cost of cables, filters and the like and his face showed he would love to see my back.

I obliged him, and bought Camper from elsewhere a couple of days later.

This is an awesome option the moment you think of living in less crowded places with lots of outdoor weekend adventures. I mean look at it, it has every charm a vehicle will like to have apart from charm of a city vehicle. Im sure there will be more white numbered Xenon's than yellow ones.

Maybe we need to move this thread to India 'Car' scene ? This has a potential of gobbling up sales for few SUVs available today.

Re: Tata Xenon Crew-Cab launched : The Downgraded variant of Xenon XT

This might be the right sort of vehicle for you to plug in with a driver to lug the workforce around in, from one place to another and when it is not is use in this manner, you can probably use it to lug produce and/ or fertilizer etc around from place to place.

However, more than anything else, one will have to see what the best possible boot liner can be, for this sort of vehicle - else the fertilizer etc can burn a hole in the flat bed at the back.

Somehow I don't see you personally, stomping about in a Barbour Jacket and a pair of Green wellies and driving this vehicle about in the heartland on your personal errands. Im reasonably sure that the rest of the world around you will have much to say about it and none of what they choose to say will be complimentary!

I still believe we in India are quite a way off from daily personal use of that sort of farm vehicle regardless of its practicality elsewhere in the world. Plus, it is likely to be as wide if not more than that erstwhile Tatamobile.
