This is the stormized version of xenon!
I hope they launch in India too! This surely is a scoop.

Checked with Tata motors in Kerala about white board registration for the Xenon pickup crew cab (3.0 L Dicor).

What they say is, it is possible, but will require a court order stating that the vehicle will be used only for personal purposes. The dealer will arrange the court order once the vehicle is purchased. After the court order is procured, vehicle can be registered in whiteboard.

The legal fee will be approx. 10K.

Btb., this is my first post on the forum!.

I think what the dealer actually means is that you need an affidavit saying that the vehicle will not be used for commercial purposes. Please check with another dealer, even a neighboring town is fine because the law will be uniform throughout Kerala. Also, check and see if Autorickshaw dealers insist on the same procedure if you want to buy one for private use

And btb, congratulations on your first post

Thanks!

I didn't approach any dealer yet. My query was through TML website for xenon pickup. They called me up a few days later and gave me the above details. He clearly said that a court order needs to be procured, and they will arrange everything.

He said, he can also arrange for a TD with the dealer. Since I am still not decided, didn't confirm any date.

the Tata Xenon 4 x2 dual cab has received a poor 2- star ANCAP safety rating !

Re: Tata Xenon Pick-Up Range Launched @ 5.44 Lakhs

Please read full article.

See the Scores caparison between Four-star Nissan Navara & Two-star Tata Xenon.

TATA xenon scored more than Four-star rated Nissan.
Quote:
Five-star safety utes, offset crash-test scores into a barrier
Ford Ranger ute 15.72 out of 16 — October 2011
Mazda BT-50 ute 15.72 out of 16 — December 2011
Holden Colorado ute 15.09 out of 16 — July 2012
Isuzu D-Max ute 13.58 out of 16 — November 2013
Toyota HiLux ute 12.86 out of 16 — November 2013
Four-star safety utes
Nissan Navara ute 10.56 out of 16 — February 2012
Mitsubishi Triton ute 9.08 out of 16 — February 2010
Two-star safety utes
Tata Xenon ute 11.27 out of 16 — March 2014
Great Wall V240 ute 2.36 out of 16 — June 2009
One-star safety ute
Proton Jumbuck ute 1.0 out of 16 — February 2010
The reason for POOR rating is as follows.
Quote:
"ANCAP said the Tata ute “performed fairly well” in the frontal offset crash test but was penalised for its lack of stability control, which can prevent a skid in corners and deemed to be the next lifesaver after the invention of the seatbelt."

Re: Tata Xenon Pick-Up Range Launched @ 5.44 Lakhs

The ANCAP report clearly states than all vehicles released 2013 onwards without ESC (or traction control) cannot earn more than 2 stars, no matter how the car/occupants behave in the tests.

Re: Tata Xenon Pick-Up Range Launched @ 5.44 Lakhs

Saw a left hand drive version of Xenon with a 2.1 badge on the fender and it sounded like a petrol engine. Saw it yesterday afternoon on Sion-Trombay road but could not click. Phone battery was almost dead.

Re: Tata Xenon Pick-Up Range Launched @ 5.44 Lakhs

Passenger compartment is fairly intact. Not what you see on normal Indian models. There is a very big CAVEAT though. The Xenon is sold without Airbags in India. Not even available as an option which shows Tata's abysmal pro activeness for safety in India. You can imagine how the score is going to look then.

I have had this on my list for so long now. Promised myself won't get it till an Airbag version releases. Have even wrote to them about this discrimination by an Indian manufacturer for Indian Market.

For Comparison Purposes, this looks worse although has 1 more star.

Re: Tata Xenon Pick-Up Range Launched @ 5.44 Lakhs

The most recent version (2015?) of the Xenon XT in AU has a 4 star ANCAP rating apparently due to the following safety features as described in a video I found.

Hopefully a 2015 release in India (if there is one) should have at least the ESP and Hill Hold features added with no price hikes .

Frontal crash testing is done in such a way that one half of the bonnet is subject to impact. This increases the impact damage.

In the above two videos:
the second video shows the barrier - and the impact damage
the first video shows the other side - not where the vehicle is hitting the barrier.

this would be the reason why the second video seems to show a worse impact.
