H.D. Kumaraswamy's Poll Campaign Vehicle - A customised Toyota Commuter

MODS: couldn't find a thread with this information, if one exists please merge/delete as appropriate.

Seems like a new trend with politicians these days, each trying to outdo the other by getting themselves customised, ultra-comfy vehicles for poll campaigning.
This time it is former CM of Karnataka & former MP Mr.HD Kumaraswamy who just got a brand new customised Toyota Commuter, with a super recliner, a hydraulic ramp to get to the top and address the public, a refrigerator and a wash basin

Link (Source:New Indian Express)

The article also mentions that Former CM of Karnataka Mr.BS Yeddyurappa got a customised (by Dilip Chabbria) Toyota Fortuner recently and Mr.Sriramulu, Former Karnataka Minister got a customised bullet proof Bus (again by DC) with conference room, kitchenette and bedroom

Man, talk about luxury! All that space, and seating merely for 1 (ignoring the opposite facing bench seat). This is like a 1-bedroom studio apartment on wheels.

If the commuter's ride quality is soft, this van owns all the luxury sedans out there - from the S-Class to the Phantom - in terms of comfort.

True! one seat for the king, the rest of the commoners sit on the bench!

Well this comes from a man whose father claims himself to be a son of soil, talk about luxury. By the way HDK's Son does have a good taste in Fast Cars, have always seen a porsche and un-registered Hummer parked in their palatial house portico in JP Nagar, 3rd Phase Bangalore

Impressed with the width of the vehicle. Very apt to be a ambulance. Is Toyota bringing this to India?

NPV,
Nice catch, luxury on wheels indeed.
Note: He is current member of Parliment and not former.

Seating for one, standing for many. Notice the hand rails on the sides. Bodyguards, chamchas etc will have to hold on to that to keep from falling over on the VIP.

Bodyguards and chamchas may follow in other cars. I remember that Deve Gowda created hue and cry for Z category security, not sure about HDK. With this in mind, I am curious to know if this vehicle is bullet proof.

Re: H.D. Kumaraswamy's Poll Campaign Vehicle - A customised Toyota Commuter

If I am right, this trend was introduced by Gali Janardhana Reddy, who is currently in the HYD prison who gave a new paradigm shift to the State Politics in KA / AP.

He had the first Volvo Bus, customised for himself and also offered the same to YSR.

His collection includes Maserati, Mercedes-Benz limousine, Audi, Rolls Royce Phantom and Toyota Land Cruiser. A Rs. 3 crores Continental GT Coupea, a range of Mitsubishi Pajeros and a Rs. 3 crores Range Rover sports car are also a part of his exquisite fleet.

Re: H.D. Kumaraswamy's Poll Campaign Vehicle - A customised Toyota Commuter

Summer is approaching and may be election will be in summer and it is really difficult to keep energy levels high to visit so many places for public meetings. This is the way to relax once van is on move. Every party has some or other campaign vehicles. I think this option must be cheaper than expensive helicopter hopping.

Atleast he could have put 3 more seats in van just for chit chat with them on move and making strategy.

Thanks for pointing that out - my bad, I thought he'd resigned as MP when in fact he'd resigned from the state assembly on becoming a MP.

That square bed like structure in the middle is the platform that can raise the "mannina maga"(son of soil) through the large sun roof so that he can wave to his followers from inside!
