Re: Mahindra launches the Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pickup

Its the utilitarian/commercial versions like these that actually create the illusion of the Bolero being the largest selling MUV/SUV in India. Would be interesting to know how many really buy the brand for Personal use.

Does that mean, the numbers quoted in the monthly sales chart are actually of Boleros passenger version + Bolero pick up version?

Till this date was in the opinion that the numbers of nearly 9000 are purely that of the passenger segment making it the number 1 MUV in our market and the truck versions are counted separately.

Bolero Maxi Truck and its variants are the emperor in this segment (2 to 3.5 T). In fact their last year sales is higher than the combined sales of next two players - AL (Dost) and TM ( Super Ace / 207) . M&M has around 50% MS in this segment with volumes close to 10000 / month.
This is separate and the Bolero Passenger version is separate and it also sells in equal numbers.

But the numbers are reported as part of the "Bolero" brand together. Even the Bolero passenger versions has multiple rural versions.

In anycase the strategy followed by M&M is to provide an upmarket brand to their Marshall, Pik-up, Max Pic up offerring. Their sales are reported separately.

Mahindra reports the sales seperately. Passenger is given under UV and CV under 2T to 3.5T pick up segment.

Which Report is this? SIAM or Mahindra's Monthly sales/production report?

In the SIAM report there is no clear demarcation between UV/CV and personal platforms of Bolero. Infact Bolero XL also has a goods variant with windows blocked out, everything else being same as a passenger Bolero XL.

Also note, I am keeping Maxx, Marshall, Pik-up (all with mm540 type front) out of the Bolero equation.

In SIAM report there is a clear demarcation between PC and CV versions of Bolero.
In PC (upto <4400mm), its reported with Bolero and Quanto and in (4400 - 4700) its reported along with Scorpio, Xylo, HT, Bolero Plus, Xuv500.
In CV's its reported with Genio SC/DC, Bolero Maxi Truck, Bolero Single Cab, Bolero Camper.

Refer this

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-analysis.html

Has 9766 against Bolero marked as "Utility" segment.

From the distinction given by you, which one is this?

PC <4400 includes Quanto, PC 4400-4700 includes Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero Plus/XL.

Clearly these are different reports, otherwise single number for Bolero would not have come out as it exists in all segments.

Okay So what does the Monthly Flash report figure look like for April for each category (PC upto 4400, 4400-4700, CV ) specific to the Bolero vehicle?

This launch has actually created a stir (though not really impacting sales !)

You all can go through the official sales figures reported by the OEMs.
Now if you buy a Bolero passenger version and use it for commercial purpose, still it will be counted as a Passenger Vehicle.
Now you will question the definition of Commercial Vehicle: Passengers, then they are buses, small commercial vehicle vans and auto rickshaws.
http://www.mahindra.com/News/Press-Releases/1367398269

Hope it clarifies the confusion and restores the thread back to what it is meant for!

Sales of each segment, PC upto 4400 (Bolero/Quanto) and from 4400 to 4700 (Scorpio/Xylo/XuV 500/Bolero Plus) are ~12000. CV (Genio and Bolero variants) is ~ 10000.
All three figures are independent and there is no overlapping.

Hope the sales figures are clear and Bolero PC is truly selling ~10000 and equivalent number is sold in CV segment.

Re: Mahindra launches the Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pickup

Hi people
For those who have not seen this baby in person, here is a shocker!
The entire front portion after the 'A' pillar has been shrunk !! Please refer to first picture attached. This has been done by re-orienting the components present in the engine bay as per the second picture attached.
The shrinking act has been performed to maximise the loading bay area. However, this has not compromised the living room area.
cheers
Wild child

Re: Mahindra launches the Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pickup

The shrinking is a very important move by M&M, imagine the same hood on a BOLERO, it will get it closer to the 4,000mm length limit and give M&M a greater competitive edge. Would love to see this snout on the current BOLERO, that will make the make-over complete!
