Pics & Report : EXCON 2013

Paid a visit to EXCON 13 on its last day at Bangalore International Exhibition Center at Nelmangala.
For those who are not aware, it is the International Construction Equipment and Construction Technology Trade Fair and this is the 7th Edition.

The last time I visited this exhibition was around five or six years back and then it was a third of the size what it was this time.

The participants I can remember right away are Volvo, TATA, Eicher, AMW, JCB, KOMATSU, BEML, SCANIA L&T, HYUNDAI, M&M, CAT, STETTER, TADANO, SANY, LIEBHERR.

I don't remember seeing ALL or if I missed it.

Things have changed quite a bit apart from the size. It equivalant to an Auto Expo now with lots of refreshments stalls including few beer stalls!

The highlight for me was the TATA 3723 10x4 RMC truck. It looked beautiful and of course the Volvo 440hp FMX 8x4 mining truck.

Enjoy the pictures.

Most of the trucks and earthmovers, I don't have the details or specs for.
Experts please contribute.
And some names like, Bull and Tadano are ones I am seeing for the first time.

MODS: Please merge with the existing thread of TATA at the EXCON 13 if required.

Contd

TADANO had displayed the highest boom crane with a capacity of 220t which looked like a borrowed crane of some construction company .

re: Pics & Report : EXCON 2013

The SCANIA was under the L&T stall and I almost missed TATA Motors pavillion since it was in one corner.
The last picture shows the exact length difference between TATA's 6X4, 8X4 and 10x4 chassis's.

The lovely looking 3723c 10x4 RMC with a closeup of the last steerable axle.
And a Eicher on what looks like a bus chassis providing floodlights for the show.

Regards

Awesome stuff, the heavy-weights of the CV world

Thanks for posting the pics, gave the feeling of actually being there!

The Tata truck with the steerable axle at the rear would have been the star of the show for sure, and a Mahindra back-hoe loader

It would have been complete if ALL had a participated with their range . And they too have a 10x4 RMC truck . Not sure if it is 10x2.

The other manufacturers missing were MAN and BharatBenz which I am guessing is because of their low presence in off road application trucks.

The show also had complete set ups of road asphalting machines as well a RMC producing machines. Basically the mock up displays showing all the machinary required in producing RMC.

As far as I know ALL dont yet have a 10x4 chassis, only a 10x2 one. And they dont yet have a 4-axle RMC, let alone a 5-axle one. Also their 5-axle truck has a pusher lift axle, and not a tag axle at the rear.

While the 5-axle RMC is a nice product, Tata did already provide a LPS3518 with a trailer mounted mixer. The 3723RM adds maneuverability and a bit of power to the mix.

Another Tata product which was there at the EXECON is a 31ton tipper with a sleeper cab. This I think is India's first long haul rigid tipper. For me this is the most interesting product.

Thats right, they dont have a RMC. What I saw was a 5 axle bulk cement carrier which I had posted in the AL 5axle thread.

Again, with ALL not really concentrating on FBV, the bulker must probably have been built by a 3rd party. As far as I know, unlike Tata, they dont sell bulkers directly. The only FBV trucks that Leyland sell are the tippers and a couple of 3-axle RMC trucks.

Overall, while Tata is and has been giving a big push to fully built vehicles of all types, ALL still concentrates on just selling chassis. Even in the comparatively large tipper segment, Leyland are very well eclipsed by Tata.

With not much focus on FBV, it probably did not make sense for ALL to have a presence at the EXECON.

Re: Pics & Report : EXCON 2013

I feel the Tata 3723 transit mixer is the same truck they have displayed in last AutoExpo as LPT 3723 haulage truck. Guess the load body is removed and fitted with transit mixer now. Because its unusual to see a transit mixer with sleeper cab from Tata. Also Tata was not ready with these cosmetic changes at that time and is obvious now as they have not launched it yet. So same truck doing with two Avatars?

Isnt that sort of the point of fully built vehicles, ie various load bodies available on the same basic chassis.

So obviously the 3723 with RMC is a slightly modified 3723 truck with a RMC mixer mounted on it. Just like a 2518 RMC is a slightly modified 2518 with a smaller RMC mixer mounted on it.

The sleeper cab will probably be removed in the actual launch vehicles, even though it is there in the vehicles showcased.

As far as the launch of the 3723 truck is concerned, they have definitely happened already. I have seen a few examples already on the road, all of them in specific duty forms like chemical carriers, bulkers etc. A few have even come with the new cab as shown above, but most operators still go for their usual cowl and build body on it.

Re: Pics & Report : EXCON 2013

I was on a shopping trip to EXCON on the last two days of the expo! A very well managed one that was. We are into the mining industry, and it was a breeze to see and compare different equipment all together. I did end up finalising and booking two excavators, a Komatsu PC210, and a CAT 320D2, with some discounts due to the expo.

Inspite of having a fleet of similar equipment, few of the brands were extremely new to me, like SANY, Kobelco etc.

All in all an extremely elaborate fair, JCB had the biggest podium, and their Dancing Diggers show was a super hit. The CAT 988h wheeled loader was HUGE, me being an existing customer got a closure look than most on Monday!
