It's said to be a BMTC AC coach running between Majestic and Wonder La.

Can someone confirm if this service and bus still exist?

Edit:
The bus is a 2006 AL 12M(ALPSV244WB), RC is still valid, but is it in the same guise?

Still runs - in the same guise. Had seen it last week.

I remember this bus being used for Bangalore Rounds. What is the fare structure? Is this the same bus?

BMTC A/C buses have become more expensive following 6% tax in the Union budget.

I'm also expecting another fare increase due to hike in fuel prices in the last few weeks.

BMTC plans to salvage about 100 Marcopolo buses as electric ones after retrofitting them.

BMTC have revamped their MyBMTC app and I have to say it is absolutely brilliant. It is highly accurate and very convenient for people like me who rely on BMTC for their daily commute. It shows live tracking of buses and gives a list of the buses coming to your stop along with the ETA. Would highly recommend this app to regular users of BMTC.

Fast chargers being installed at Kengeri Bus Depot. Each unit can charge two vehicles simultaneously, and takes ~1 hour to fully charge a bus.

We will now hear "charge illa" as an excuse! rl:
Wish BMTC would get their basics right before embarking on research with our tax money. I haven't been on a BMTC bus since the pandemic started, but I'm guessing that they still haven't implemented a smart card payment system. Of course, I can guarantee that they will never provide last mile connectivity, with or without BEVs.

Have been seeing these buses on the road for a few days now. What is the bulbous part in the roof at the back.

Some told that it's the battery, but who will keep batteries on the roof.

Some others felt it might be the A/C unit, but the windows are openable.

I think it might be cooling unit for the batteries.

Any thoughts about what it is?

They have been running for at least a few months now. See many in South Bangalore, esp in Uttarahalli area - esp between Banashankari and Kengeri

Cant be the battery. They would be too heavy to be placed on top. May be have to ask the crew sometime.

They are indeed the batteries. The buses have a low floor and hence the batteries cannot be kept below the floor. Keeping them on the roof helps them keep them safer, plus there is the added advantage of easier cooling compared to keeping them under the floor.

CM Bommai says that 922 more e-Buses will be added to the BMTC fleet:

BMTC will get 922 additional electric buses in addition to the 300 being inducted under the Union government's FAME scheme,... He was speaking at an event to induct 75 of the 300 large (12-metre long) buses. Karnataka had submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking assistance to lease 1,500 e-buses.
