Escorts showcases Farmtrac 6050 4x4 tractor in Chandigarh

Escorts Ltd. has showcased the European version of the 4x4 Farmtrac 6050 tractor at the Agrotech in Chandigarh.

The tractor was shown its non-cabin version and with it, Escorts has brought 4x4 technology to tractors for Indian farmers. Escorts claims that the Farmtrac 6050 4x4 delivers extra traction, improved productivity and safety. It is suitable for all kind of agri and commercial haulage and multiple hard soil farm application. The company expects a good demand for the tractor from the state of Punjab.

The Heritage range was displayed at the Agritechnica trade fair in Hannover (Europe) last year. It consists of the 6050, 6060 and 6057 tractors which fall in the 50 hp to 75 hp category. They are available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants and Escorts claims that they are the most fuel efficient tractors in their class.

Re: Escorts showcases Farmtrac 6050 4x4 tractor in Chandigarh

Something to look at - for off-roaders pleasure with the new 4x4 offering from Escorts India. :-)

These mean machines are filled with loads of torque at low rpm (I don't think the lower bhp will have any bearing in the off-road pleasures); more so the government will offer subsidy for buying these machines !

Should there not be a 4x4 tractor off road activity?

Cheers !

A boon for slushy paddy fields! This should really help change things down here in Kerala where tractors cannot plough many fields because the mud is too soft for traction.

Re: Escorts showcases Farmtrac 6050 4x4 tractor in Chandigarh

Before 6050 4X4, Escorts developed 6060 4WD tractor. Even 4X4 with front PTO has been developed and some initial lot has been built. 4X4 with front PTO was a relatively difficult task, but they managed.

What we are able to see was a project that started with "Facelift Program". Around 4-5 models were a part of facelift project and few of them have clicked, namely PT 434/439 facelift, BT4455 ( BT = Business Tractor ), FT6050. The one that did not see much success is FT6060 facelift. FT6060 is quite famous in North region of India.

FT = Farmtrac and PT = Powertrac.

Actually, tractors are already part of most offroad excursions . They're the best at pulling stuck Jeeps & Gypsies out. The large tyres, rubber that claws into mud, massive torque, low gearing and 400 mm of ground clearance means they can get in & out of anywhere. Of course, it helps that tractors & Jeeps have a common playground (them for work, us for fun).

And remember, we've traditionally had 4x2 Tractors at OTRs. A 4x4? Wow

One thing is for sure, In Punjab people are gonna buy them even as their main weekend offroading fun vehicle and not just for pulling out stuck vehicles!

I have seen college boys here in Chandigarh bringing tractors to college, giving rides to girls with nice Punjabi music at full blast.

Tractors are such a fad here in Punjab, add a 4x4 and its even a cooler toy!

Hi Guys,

We've had 4x4 tractors in our place since a long time. Mahindra Arjun 4x4 tractor was extensively used in Wayanad Annual Monsoon Offroading 2013 recce.

These machines are really heavy, and do not perform well as the Jeep/Gypsy. We used the tractor to damage the roads to make the trail more difficult. Wherever you need a little momentum, the tractor fails miserably, and that's almost always in slush offroading.

I'd still say, a tractorable road is always Jeepable, and its not the same the other way round.

The real performance of these vehicles are in load hauling. As shown in the video (in the opening post), when there is more load, the drive at the front makes things easier.

Where as small mitsubishi tractors of old times were more effective in offroading. Not these.

Recreational OTR application of 4x4 tractors already discussed earlier: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ve...would-fun.html.
