Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has launched the Eicher Pro 6000 series heavy-duty trucks in west India. While the launch was announced with a small event in Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, the brand is hosting an experiential event in Goregaon, which will be attended by financiers and customers from Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, over a period of four days.







The Eicher Pro 6000 Series includes:

- Pro 6025 (25 tonne GVW, 6x2 haulage truck): Rs 19.75 Lakh
- Pro 6031 (31 tonne GVW, 8x2 haulage truck): Rs. 23.28 Lakh
- Pro 6025T (25 tonne GVW, 6x4 tipper): Rs. 25.50 Lakh

Highlights of VECV & the Pro 6000 Series:

• The Volvo Eicher 50:50 collaboration was finalized in 2008
• The engine plant built in collaboration with Volvo in Pithampur, MP makes Euro III and Euro IV engines, along with Euro VI engines for Volvo to use in international markets
• Eicher Motors has a 3.7% market share in heavy-duty trucks
• The brand exported around 5,700 trucks in 2014
• The Pro 6000 range is offered with VEDX5 and VEDX8 engines, which have been developed in collaboration with Volvo
• VEDX5 specs: 5L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 177-207 BHP and 825 Nm of torque.
• VEDX8 specs: 8L, 6-cylinder diesel engine that makes 217-247 BHP and 850 Nm of torque
• These engines feature Volvo's engine management system (EMS 3.0)
• Features include Eicher Live telematics, fuel coaching, cruise control and an on-board diagnostics system
• The Pro 6000 Series includes 16-40 ton GVW trucks
• Scheduled service intervals are at 50,000 kms
• The Pro 8000 Series (25-49 ton GVW) will be launched next (time-frame not specified)

Overall, a good attempt by VECV. The pricing also looks sweet.

I hope they come with the same reliability associated with Volvo Trucks

Is there any particular reason to go with this more expensive (in terms of tooling costs) option? AFAIK, a regular ladder frame would've done just fine

VEDX5 four-cylinder engine

Any FE figures? Is it a CRDI system? Looking at the state of tune, especially the torque figures, they're probably squeezing the 5L engine to the maximum!
