Off-topic: The least Mahindra could have done is ensure that their video plays properly. Look at it from 2.42 onwards!

Re: Mahindra launches 415 DI tractor in 40 HP category

I get what you mean. At 2.42 it sounds like the tractor is having a bout of hiccups. Permanently.

2nd, the voice over says "saath sou thees" cc. I'm very impressed that a 730 cc engine can pressure the hydraulic systems and assist in crop rotation.

Farmers must be falling over themselves to book this tractor!

I'm wondering why bigger guys say TATA or Leyland are not in this business. As per the equipment mfrs. assoc. (AEM) India makes 30% of the worlds tractors at 600,000 which is just 1/6 th the number of cars made in India. I mean how hard is to make a tractor really?

Re: Mahindra launches 415 DI tractor in 40 HP category

Tractor market though seem to be easy because of volumes produced, there are very many players involved in production

- John Deere
- M & M and Mahindra Gujarat (Very similar to Bajaj Auto and Maharashtra Scooters Limited which use to produce Priya Scooter)
- Escorts
- Sonalika
- TAFE
- New Holland
- Force Motors (Balwan Tractors)
- Indofarm
- SAS Motors

Some of the earlier champions which are not front runners anymore
- HMT
- Eicher (now part of TAFE)

There are specific business requirements
- Tractor alone is not enough, the companies will have to get into farm equipment too
- Most of the tractor manufactures supply tractors to dealers on credit and payment is realized against sales
- Margins are less
- Word of mouth still works in agriculture sector and old players have a better recall value (John Deere has now finally cracked the Indian market)
- Large network requirement (rural areas ), poor book and inventory management at dealer level, links with banks (several banks promote particular brands only as they need to sell back the recovered tractors in case of payment defaults by farmers)
- Several business transactions are through middle men (Aarthi's or commission agents responsible for procurement of farm produce)
-

Re: Mahindra launches 415 DI tractor in 40 HP category

Anyone is using MAHINDRA JIVO 225 DI 4WD tractor? This is a mini 20hp 4x4 tractor. What are the pros and cons? Any better alternative like Kubota?

To admin: I did not see any thread for mini tractors. There are a lot of now with 4x4, and people are buying it for home use. Can you start a new thread on that?

Re: Mahindra launches 415 DI tractor in 40 HP category

For those adventurous enough to try, Tractors are fun equipment to play around with.
RHS and LHS have seperate brake pedals, which can be locked together with a strip or used individually.
That helps sharp turns by locking wheels on one side and powering the other.
Many times load on FA is not enough to steer as tractor is on the verge of wheeling, here touching brake on side you are turning helps steer better.
Play with one and bikes will be boring.
