The truck facility at Narasapura was inaugurated in October 2013 and the bus plant in March 2015. With a collective investment of Rs. 3 billion, this facility houses a service workshop and a central parts warehouse as well.

At present, Scania has a current production capacity of 2,500 trucks and 1,000 buses. The company aims to double its capacity by 2020 and has a target of selling 5,000 trucks and 2,500 buses annually. In next five years, Scania also plans to expand its employee pool to 1,200 people at this facility.

Scania has delivered 200 P 410 (8x4) mining tippers to BGR in March 2015, making it India’s largest single order to date. Another milestone that Scania recently achieved was certification of R 580 as the first on-road puller in India. The company claims that the R 580 with V8 engine is the most powerful truck available in the country.

In India, Scania also manufactures the G 410 (6x2) tipper, G 460 (6x4) truck and Metrolink series of intercity buses.

Additionally, Scania is providing customer support programmes such as Scania FMS – Fleet Management System and driver training academy. The company claims that these programmes help in improving productivity, lowering wear and tear of vehicles and lowering fuel consumption. Scania products also come with a progressive safety system.
