Mahindra Genio facelift spotted

Spy images of a refreshed version of the Mahindra Genio pickup truck have surfaced on the internet.

The images suggest that the facelifted Genio gets a restyled grille with silver accents and a honeycomb mesh. There are new headlamps and tweaked bonnet with a cut-out in the centre for the badge. The front bumper is redesigned as well and features round housings for foglamps, a wide airdam and a honeycomb mesh pattern. The bumper and ORVMs are body-coloured.

The Genio is based on the Xylo MUV. It is available in single cab and double cab versions. The vehicle is powered by a 2.5-litre, diesel engine that puts out 75 BHP and 220 Nm of torque.

It is unclear whether the Xylo and Quanto will also get the changes that are seen on the Genio.

Omg.

This looks extremely attractive and slick. I really hope that Mahindra carries down this design to the Xylo.

It will be a perfect replacement for my current 5 year old Xylo E8 with the M-eagle engine.

With this design, and if they sort the ride quality with the plastics. This will be the closest contender to the Innova.

Rest assured nobody below 30 lakhs holds even a candle to the Xylo in 3rd row comfort. Just coming out from a 1000 kms trip in my 100000 kms run Xylo. The comfort in a fully loaded Xylo is really conducive.

Wow! Oh just... WOW

That is the butch-est front I have seen from Mahindra in recent times, especially after the TUV300 design debacle (i.e. IMHO). If this front is gonna be in the Xylo and Quanto, then Yaay-yippee-yaay. Time to seriously consider a Xylo over an Innova, 'coz like many have mentioned before, the Xylo has more vertical room than an Innova.

Pardon the difference of opinion, but I consider it an 'Ugly Duckling"

There is no flow between the curved lines of the cabin and the slab-sided load area; something that the Tata Xenon has always managed.

Not that it was different in the earlier avatar, but the 'new' front looks absolutely garish with Mahindra's new-found affection towards 5-slat grills!

Probably, a brick-shaped cabin from the TUV would have blended better!

Even smaller markets like Thailand and Indonesia have good looking Pick-up trucks, but why don't we have any pick-up trucks (good looking), say Toyota, Chevvy, or a Suzuki in India?

I totally agree to what you mentioned. 3 years back I was hell bent on buying either a Tata Xenon or Camper or Genio and had spent a good 2 hours with the vehicle. Believe me except the cabin everything else is purely meant for loading stuff. The absent rear wheel arches in order to give a flat cargo area and then it looks totally out of proportion.

It just cannot compare with the Xenon DI Pick-up, I don't they will even get close. The bolero camper looks mighty butch in comparison.

For some reason they always seem to lose interest/focus/funds/design by the time they move to the rear of the vehicle.

Cheers!

Re: Mahindra Genio facelift spotted

What? This is easily the best looking Mahindra apart the Jeep's. But why have they made such an attractive looking commercial truck where I think aesthetics don't matter much? What harm would have it done if something like this was done to KUV?
I wish they launch a proper "lifestyle " truck here. This is amazing to look at and would do well among enthusiasts if it has a proper cabin with goodies and 4x4.

Really!!!

They give humans the boxy and awkward looking TUV and they give the goods such a nice looking pick up.

Mahindra - swap your commercial vehicle segment designers with the passenger segment ones.

Or else make the Quanto (Canto) and new Xylo look like this.

That one looks so good. And so much like the new Suzuki Vitara S.

Re: Mahindra Genio facelift spotted

Love the looks apart from the gray colored grill inserts. It would look very nice with all-black grill. Now I have hope that Quanto's facelift would be good. The overall design change in M&M is promising.
