Eicher Trucks and Buses have launched their new multi-axle truck, named the Eicher Pro 6037. The Pro 6037 was first unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, and will compete in the rapidly growing 37-tonne rigid truck segment.

Eicher Pro 6037 comes equipped with advanced technological features like Eicher Drive telematics system, M (Mileage) Booster, EMS 3.0, EPS, real time fuel coaching and cruise control. The company is also offering fuel management, trip management, and uptime management services, through the live telematics system of the truck.

The Pro 6037 multi-axle truck is built on a DOMEX chassis with a fully-suspended single sleeper cabin. It has a cargo body length of 28 to 30 feet.

Powering the Eicher Pro 6037 is a VEDX 5-litre, 4-cylinder engine that is tuned to develop 210 BHP and a peak torque of 825 Nm, when driven in power mode. The truck also has an Eco mode on offer, which helps the driver to extract better fuel economy. In the Eco mode, the Pro 6037 can generate 160 BHP and 560 Nm of torque.

So, I assume it will be a 5 axle vehicle (all 37 tonners are).
Where is the lift axle, 2nd steering axle?
If possible, can you share a side view of the truck?

This will be with pusher lift axle. The second axle will be steerable like all 37T. Tata was having last axle as lift axle and now they are also offering with pusher lift axle like AL.

Uniqueness about Eicher is, its the only 4 cylinder in the list. But Denso fuel systems (which is also unique) powering this engine offer a host of features as listed. Its hard to crack the market for Eicher with 4 cylinder, as they are neither established nor a seasoned player like others. But overall the package is too good.

4 cylinders and 5 liters. This should be similar to the 'Sankagiri Express' engine in terms of characteristics. Sankagiri was the first instance of a 5 liter 4 cyl going into a proper HCV, but at 37 Tonnes, Eicher seems to be stretching it too far for a 5 liter. Eicher already is known for using engine capacities lower than the competition. Jumbo 20.16, in the 6 liter, 6 cyl era used a 5 liter 6 cylinder engine(derived from the Mitsubishi 4 cyl). The 11.90 / 12.90 used a 3.3 liter engine for a 13 tonner, which again was the lowest in the Industry for that tonnage. I will not be surprised to see a Tractor from Eicher with this 5 liter engine. Lets leave the 'Engineering' to Eicher, maybe they know best as to what their vehicles need, but then are the ALLs and TMLs fools to always go higher by one liter in terms of engine capacities for LCVs and HCVs ??please:

Can anyone in the forum elaborate about the B 10 life or first overhaul life of the Eicher engines in 11.90 or 12.90 or even the Jumbo multi axles (with the 5 liter). If Eicher is turning out to be right in using smaller engines, i for one feels that Industry should follow suit. Afterall, lighter vehicles and better FE does not hurt in the trucking business.

These guys didn't have the option to choose capacity in past. The Eicher E483 - 3 litre / Tata 497 3.3 litre/ AL W04D 3.3 litre is all from their partners. More than option and engineering to choose it was rather only available to opt. But later they started to work independently and brought engines with their indian knowhow and their engineering capabilities. AL which was among the first to have dedicated engine R&D started working on modifications and improvement in the original Hino engines. Tata didn't worry too much partnered with Cummins, Eicher has now worked on E483 engine and brought a common rail version as E494 which is now closer to others at 3.3 L.

Same way in the 6 cylinder version as well.

Eicher has the lowest B10 life of the lot. Others there were always mixed reviews but by all means AL H engines have the lowest oil KMPL and highest oil drain frequency making it the cheapest engine to maintain in comparison to Cummins and Tata engine across its life.

Basically a pusher axle has inherent issues of higher tyre wear. Even Volvo B9R have the same problem. But by fiddling the major dimensions this can be reduced to an extent (though not fully).
Tata moved to a tag lift axle as their LPT 3118 initially had lot of uneven tyre wear issues. Though it was corrected after a long time, it wasn't completely ok. So by all means they would have thought of placing lift axle as tag instead of pusher. But in case of 37T, with a tag lift axle, it had issues in higher ROH to offer WB options and other related tyre wear prob. So now they are offering pusher lift axle. From 3723 to 3718, Tag axle to pusher axle the 37T segment is still not settled for Tata. They are yet to get established and currently AL is holding a better position with around 70% market share with 3718il, which has pusher lift axle.

Thanks Ashley for the inputs. I believe the TML 497 is closer to 3.8/4 liters and not 3.3 liters as pointed out. Even the ALL W04 should be closer to 4 liters considering the fact that it is W06 minus 2 cylinders. btw is the Sankagiri express still in production ?

Tata started their 5 axle range with a 5th lift axle, where as Leyland started with a 3rd lift type pusher axle.
Now both have both options, transporters with uni directional load like tankers prefer a tag 5th lift axle, where as those with erratic load prefer a 3rd pusher type lift axle.



Recently I've seen an Eicher with tridem rear combination, and a Tata with 6 axles of them two lift axles, both pusher and Tag.
