Re: FlightRadar24 - Live Flight Tracker. My experience as a host

There has been a steady decline in number of aircraft over the week tracked by my radar. And I fear it will go down further. As per Flightradar24 the commercial airline traffic is down by 10% in March 2020.

The Air India flight. Is it a ferry flight for storage or taking people for isolation?

The flight tracker status today. Will again check at night to see how many were tracked. As of now, only 4 have been tracked.

Thanks! Even I was surprised seeing the aircraft with a regular flight number. Must be (as you said) taking COVID-19 evacuees OR a flight carrying senior Defence folks or similar VVIPs.

Cannot see why else it should be in the air. If it was a positioning / MRO-bound flight it should not have the scheduled flight number.

Drastic decrease in number of flights tracked.

This is with VT (India) filter.

Re: FlightRadar24 - Live Flight Tracker. My experience as a host

Yesterday afternoon I heard a fighter jet twice (or it were 2 different fighters?) here in Ranchi. First time I couldn’t find anything in the sky but the next time, I saw a fighter jet doing a rolling inverted manoeuvre. Wasn’t too high in the sky but it disappeared quickly as I’m surrounded by tall buildings.

Can flight radar help in finding what was it now?

No. You cannot track fighters with Flightradar24. Occasionally, you may be able to track a few transporters of IAF like AN32s or C130 or at times, Globemaster. This is due to the transponders used by military aircraft the world over.

Used VT filter for this screenshot.

@BoneCollector These are great post. I host a feeder for FlightAware.com and have a very similar setup. I do this as a hobby too.

Of late my receiver has gone KAPUT. Was wondering if you or any one else here have done any tinkering with Raspberry PI. I am not sure if its the microSD card or the PI's board. The GPS module itself is working as it displays green light meaning it is all to track satellites after about 5 mins.
