Re: MAN Trucks might exit India

Recently VW trucks have named a new brand named Tatron wherein there are merging all 3 companies viz.. Scania, MAN, VW & Navistar.

Hence I feel may be all developments would be handled by this new company which shall significantly lower the development cost.

Recently MAN had shut down there Russia plant & has diverted all asia production to India. This move was going to benefit for BS6 vehicle production, for which india plant has been identified as the main contributor.

They had target a annual volume from 2020 at 8000 trucks. After all this planning I dont' see a sudden exit should be on cards. I feel emerging of all under Traton should be the plan.

Re: MAN Trucks might exit India

Another question to be asked at this point : What happened to AMW trucks India ?
This was a home grown brand from the mighty ESSAR Group and the trucks used components from Cummins, ZF, Meritor etc. Has anyone seen new AMW trucks on road ?

AMW was IMHO, assembling components from proven suppliers, including core systems such as engines, axles etc. Cab from First Auto Works, China, engines from Cummins, gearbox from ZF, axles from Merritor etc. And they were able to get the most out of their combination too, proving themselves in the tipper segment.

For a comparison, MAN uses their own engines, Tata Motors have developed their own engines apart from sourcing the Cummins ISBe from the Tata-Cummins JV, Ashok Leyland uses their own H-series and N-series engines, Volvo-Eicher uses their VEDX series engines, etc.

Re: Scania India in big trouble

After Scania, VW Group owned MAN Trucks exits Indian truck market.

Quote:
The company has put its Pithampur plant on the block for sale and the employees at the plant will continue to work till the orderbook is executed by October
Quote:
Going forward, MAN Trucks India the legal entity will convert itself into an R&D Centre that supports global projects. The manufacturing, sales and exports of the CLA range will be stopped after the existing customer orders are completed
