Ha Ha Ha, the foreign vehicle manufacturers have been milking us forever with backdated technology at a premium price (and sometimes bringing in the fresh stuff with exhorbitant pricing), this is the way to show them what backdated technology really costs!! (Even after making, I guess a profit)

The leg room in the 3rd and the 4th row looks severely compromised. The 2nd row leg space looks no great shakes too.

About time we had something like this. Took TATA all these years to spot the vaccum in the marketplace. The TOyota Hi-Ace/ van is such a familiar sight in the rest of Asia. Vans are anyday more efficient in transporting passengers in an urban environment than SUVs.

Speaking of this, why didn't the Tata Calypso see the light of the day. If I recall, it had better aesthetics than this one, but yes aesthetics alone dont sell a car (Van), Calypso was not monocoque but body on chhasis.

Calypso was built on the same chassis as the Tatamobile and size wise it was comparable to the ill fated Mahindra Voyager. Who knows it may have worked but is a clearly one or two sizes smaller.

And boxy too...

However, Only now i noticed it has 4 row seating. Hmmm, Good thinking by TATA. Dont know if the product will succeed as a means of personal transport though!

This may turn out to be another "sumo" for Tata. Buying the dies and toolings of old vehicles from foreign manufacturers and then using some existing engine/transmission from the stable of the Indian company is really low-cost product development. Sometimes they work and sometimes they backfire (voyager)

Holy WOW! Talk about taking it straight to the Innova (or a segment below). While they offer 9 seater configs, out comes Tata with an 11 - 14 seater options at a significantly lower price. Considering how the Innova prices have only gone higher......what are commercial / budget users going to opt for?

Tata is seriously pulling off "magic" with its commercial vehicles. The 407 and Ace were only the start of things.
