2020 Force Trax Toofan spotted with minor changes

A test mule of the Force Trax Toofan has been spotted. Emission testing equipment attached might be due to a BS6 compliant engine.

The MUV is also expected to get a revised front end with redesigned bumpers, grille and headlights. The 3rd row windows are now combined and feature sliding type design (outgoing car had 2 windows here). At the back, Force is expected to offer a redesigned bumper and new tail lights.

At present, the Force Trax Toofan is powered by a 2.0L, 3-cylinder diesel engine that puts out 66 BHP @ 3,200 rpm and 175 Nm @ 1600-2400 rpm. It is offered in a 12 seat configuration. The car is 4,832 mm long, 1790 mm wide and 2055 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 3,050 mm.

We enthusiasts may be keen on looking at the specs, but the usual buyer for his vehicle could not care less.
The Toofan, given its robust nature and huge seating capacity is a pretty popular vehicle for inter city (read -Inter village/ town) taxi operators in rural north India.
I have seen many if them in rural Maharashtra, Gujarat and MP.

Does this really require a camouflage?
I think it will garner more attention with camouflage. Maybe that was the idea!!

On paper these specs may be a joke, but they are real usable power and torque figures. Many of the labour contractors I hire own these vehicles, and these can manage the electronically restricted 100 kmph loaded even on light gradients, and in ghat sections they start from a dead stop without struggling. The vehicle owners and operators do not ask for any thing more.

Re: 2020 Force Trax Toofan spotted with minor changes

Its good that Force is coming up with innovative products that address a market need which no one else seems to be addressing. Also good that they are keeping their vehicles updated with respect to the latest regulations. This gives confidence that the firm will continue to manufacture vehicles in the years to come.

IMO, we do need more such niche Indian manufacturers to come up with these low volume products that none of the MNC's will ever address. Good luck to Force. However I do hope that they pay attention to the refinement of their products too. The current NVH is simply horrendous.

For what the vehicle is used for, for the people who buy it, for the people who use it - and for the company that is able to keep the numbers churning: it is definitely worth. You and I may not consider it. But having seen it being used, and even driven a 13 seater one, I will say - everyone has some space and some requirements that some one is fulfilling.

Re: 2020 Force Trax Toofan spotted with minor changes

Essentially a micro bus, a notch lower than it's ever popular Traveller mini bus, this one on the age-old Trax platform seems to be mainly targeted at the taxi segment. It is a 12 seater officially, but needs to have all the DNA to haul 20 plus passengers, if it has to emerge successful. The Bolero will be it's main competitor.

As such, Force vehicles of this MUV class have a questionable fit'n finish. But for the niche where it is aimed at, these are not important. The operator should find it a "value for money proposition" to own one.

The Traveller is now the 'bread and butter' for Force Motors. Any dealer vouches and asserts that they are afloat owing to the Traveller sales. The Gurkha, Gurkha Xtreme, Xpedition, Xplorer, KARGO KING pick-up and so on have been non-starters as MUV's. Let's hope this one complements the Traveller as another popular product from Force, like the Trax used to be in the pre-Tata Sumo era of the early 1990's.
