Tata Hispano Globus and the Intercentury Luxura were displayed with much fanfare in Auto Expo'06 but now nothing is heard of them now...
As far as I know, the Luxura is launched with a price tag Rs.50 lakh but I am yet to see one on the road... And why isn't Tata launching the Hispano Globus. Is the competition from the Volvo B7R too hot to handle??

The Ashok Leyland Intercentury Luxura has an intended launch date of the 2nd quarter of the next fiscal - Jul-Sep 07. It'll be rolled out across the metros- ND, Mum, BLR, Chn and Pune first on a trial basis.

Is the Tata Globus currently under production the Hispano Globus?

No, the Tata Globus currently under production is just a typical bus based on a truck chassis, the only difference being that the body is manufactured by Tata itself. I have posted the pic of the Hispano Globus in the first post.

Never seen a Globus in/around BLR.

This is the homepage of the current Tata Globus
Welcome to TATA MOTORS

Globus looks really good.. Any idea when this model will be in market?

when i was catching a photos of Tata's New World Truck, i asked to driver about Other test models of Tata. driver said that ,a month ago 1 volvo type bus was on test. may be TATA was testing This Hispano Globus.

Mercedes has also announced that they want to launch their buses. No sign of that. It will probably be a CBU like the Actros which means big $$$.

Any updates on the new Globus guys?

this thread put back up after almost 13 months..

One gets to see quite a few Tata-Marcopolo low floor buses in Delhi these days. These buses are currently being made in Tata's Lucknow plant but a new facility is coming up at Dharwad in Karnataka which is claimed to be the world's largest bus-body manufacturing facility.

It's probable that the Hispano acquisition is aimed at serving the European/international bus market while Indian market is served by TM-Marcopolo JV. After the acquisition by Tata, Hispano had won a big tender for supplying buses in Morocco.

Have seen the Hispano being tested inside the TATA factory. the logos were masked, and TATA badges were put on the front and rear.
the one i saw seemed to be around 10-15% smaller than a b7r, but had a rear engine

Small in the sense? In length/no. of seats/height?

Was it similar to the Globus they displayed in the previous autoshow?

Also...:) what else did you see like this?

The monster TATA trucks are still being tested on Pune-Mumbai highway. I think the Hispano bus is still in the the initial phase of testing.

I have seen a few of those trucks getting used by a mining company. It was very impressive. Also apparently many of the pieces on the Tata Novus is Tata's and not Tata Daewoo's. Like the interiors were refurbished by Tata I heard. Quite a good effort....
