Food trucks have been recently growing in popularity. Be it preparing and serving or just giving out pre-packed food, they are a part of the street food culture. Some trucks are exclusive to events and concerts while others roam around town and some are a daily occurrence outside parks or office buildings.

Another aspect on the popularity of food trucks is the rising cost of real estate in city centres. With high rental costs, opening up a food joint is financially unviable.

Food trucks these days serve not just street foods like vada pav, chaat, etc. but also gourmet dishes. Marketing is mostly done via social media.

This is a very good idea. I have seen many of these trucks inside college campuses during college fests. With these, there is no need to pitch up tents (by drilling holes on roads)/temporary structures. Just bring the vehicle, park it and start serving. A much cleaner & faster way to offer people food at different locations.

I have also spotted a Haldiram's food truck in Noida recently.

Gradually our country is picking up on Food trucks & RV's.

We had one in Hinjewadi phase 3, sadly he moved somewhere else.
The legalities of running one is quite complex the owner told me, so they were running it illegaly.Truck was MH-43 and owner told me RTO doesn't give clearance to food trucks easily.

Food truck was based on 407 and was well designed, menu included kheema pav,fries,egg & chicken items,shakes etc.It was run by a hotel management guy.

Hinjewadi has a huge potential for Food trucks, but I believe its due to local Tapri guys that these are not allowed ( Read they have to pay hafta to locals )

Seems like Traveller is the choice of food truck in India.

Food trucks have been around in Trivandrum city for a couple of decades now but back in the day it was a place for us college kids to get fresh hot porottas and beef fry or chili chicken.
There were a couple of Tempo Travelers with a modified counter and awning on one side and some were the older Matador vans similarly converted. Power was via a noisy generator running a few meters away and hand wash facilities were either a bucket and mug nearby or a public water tap by the road side.

Now it seems food trucks are more upmarket
