Availability of Tempo Travellers

I am interested in purchasing a modified Tempo Traveller. Is anyone aware of any available? The other option is that I get a used one and modify it myself. Could someone advise me on this? Paul Henry

These are readily available with three options of Sleek, Luxury & smooth they come with new face & from next month tentatively with Om611 engine & g32 gear box. Also a new sleek with 6 + 1seater & 9+1 seater has been launched. This has sliding doors with reclining seats & dual zone AC. You can check this out at your local dealer.

Did you buy the Tempo Traveller that you planned to? If so, please give your opinion as a user.

This opinion is from an ambulance driver, who is a friend of mine. His vehicle is a tempo traveller model 2001.According to him, the travellers doesnot have the quality they used to have after it came under force motors. He also told me that the earlier travellers ran for atleast 1 lakh kms without any engine problems, but the force travellers are getting engine works within 50000kms.

I bought a Tempo Traveller new in 1995 and still have it. It is an 8 +1 configuration with 4 individual bucket seats, a flat top, short wheelbase.

It is a terrific vehicle that has a great suspension, brakes, steering, etc. The vehicle is a superb design from Mercedes Benz. The front brakes are dual piston disc brakes that give incredible stopping. The steering is light and precise. The OM616 derived engine is bulletproof.

The earlier ones with the OM616 engine were awsome vehicles. Unfortunately the product has been *improved* by Force motors with a cruder engine.

Hopefully, it will regain it's lost glory with the OM611 CRDi.

Force Motors Dealer

Was over at the faridabad dealer on 11th july and then again yesterday...pestering him about the features, quality and the new foundknowledge about the undr powered thrashy diesel as compared to the OM616. But surprisingly he seemed unaware about the common rail 616 in the pipe line. Had test drove the traveller truck on 11.07.10 and was put off by the notchy and hard gear throws, specially the danger of remaining or being stuck in fool's neutral. Maybe BD can enlighten us about the approach and kind of inputs which go into designing the vehicles...or is it that we are unable to handle the intricacies and close tolerance requirements of a well crafted job to deliver a world class product. Having been a part for more than 8 years with the Diesel Locomotive Works/Indian Railways i can understand the approach from the government side towards ergonomics, quality, fit and finish etc. But, this lask lustre attitude from somebody whose bread and butter depends on it is inexplicable. What stops us from delivering good, clean, robust and durable performing designs is something i fail to understand even after having seen more than 41 summers. But definitely will ask the dealer about CRDI the next time i'm over at their showroom.

Dear All- I have had an experience with a tempo traveller just a week back. Some may agree while others wil disagree.
Took a trip from Mumbai-Kolad and back some 300 kms. My observations were as-
Good pick up and top end speed- you need it on the 2 lane NH 17
Good ride and handling- we felt like being in a qualis if not an innova
No rattles- the body doesnot rattle like other mini busses, could be monococque construction or whatever it works.
Engine Noise- was not much for a diesel vehicle.
I had taken a same trip in an esteem a fortnight back it took us roughly the same time as with the TT.
Had a nice trip and will book the same for a full family outing to Nashik next month.

Re: Force Tempo Traveller Test drive

Have you checked out the latest tempo traveller, rather Force traveller?
http://www.forcemotors.com/index.php...traveller_3050
I am impressed!!! The BS4 engine is a 2.2 liter dual mass flywheel engine with 129bhp and 300nm torque between 1600 -2400rpm!!!!
I wonder what prevents force from providing this engine in the new Gurkha???
