I always wondered about this. Isn't 114 bhp too low for a vehicle designed to haul a lot of weight?

Not that I want vans to go faster, and I also understand performance isn't the top priority for owners, but this power output seems too low that I feel the engine has to be worked, and that might infact reduce the efficiency?

What are the torque numbers?

Was the case with the existing Traveller also I reckon.

I've seen Ford E-Series vans in the US with 6.8L Triton V10 engines

Re: Force Motor's next-gen monocoque bus, the T1N unveiled

Force T1N test mules spotted post testing

Two test mules of the next-generation Force T1N platform were spotted on a truck. The spy images reveal both, the short wheelbase and the long wheelbase versions of the vehicle. It is speculated that these test mules had been sent to Chennai for testing and were snapped on the way back somewhere in Satara.

The longer test mule has a yellow stripe on the side indicating a commercial variant while the smaller one could also be offered with a private registration. Both vehicles have single wheels on the rear axle indicating a lower GVW, and thereby won't require a heavy vehicle license for the driver.

The T1N platform is the company's newest monocoque panel van platform. It will get a BS6 compliant diesel engine that has peak torque of 350 Nm as well as CNG and all-electric powertrains. It has safety aids like all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, EDTC and ESP. The T1N platform is claimed to have been designed to comply with the latest crash safety standards including rollover safety.

Thanks to Harshal More for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Any idea on the expected launch date, dimensions, G.C etc? The force motors website has no details yet on this.

Well, the base Ford Transit van in the UK/EU comes with a 2.0 105 BHP engine while the 130 BHP engine is the one commonly used. The Toyota Hiace meanwhile gets a 154 BHP engine but the previous gen had the paltry 102 BHP engine from the previous gen Innova. Can't really compare with commercial vehicles in the US/Canada - fuel efficiency is less of a problem there.

Doesnt this bear an uncanny resemblance to the modern Ford Transit Passenger Van?
Or is it one of those ‘inspired by’ jobs?

Most such vans look the same or atleast have a similar shape:

1) Fiat Ducato/Ram Promaster/Citroen Jumper/Peugeot Boxer (same vehicle brand engineered into different brands).

2) Toyota Hiace

^^
This is exactly Mercedes Sprinter van. There are many versions. More specifically the 2014 facelift of the 2nd generation of Sprinter. When it is easier to license from Mercedes, why would Force go anywhere else to copy.

Re: Force Motor's next-gen monocoque bus, the T1N unveiled

Will believe when the local tour operators start to use these.

Seriously, from showing this in 2020 Auto Expo, the time taken for the vehicle to be on sale is just absurd. Ofcourse test mules will take a lot of time. But this one was fully unveiled almost three years ago!!!!

Are they waiting for some kind of new regulations that would make the old Force Traveller no longer fit to be on sale? Eeking it out to the maximum?

Off topic, however I can say this with Tata Prima truck facelift as well, since its showcase in 2020 Auto Expo, I am yet to see a single Tata Prima truck facelift on road.

Just went through the Expo thread and realised they launched the Yodha and Intra facelifts just now.

On second thoughts, they know their customers. Unlike the 3-6 years purchase cycle of private vehicles and the stiff competition, Force knows that their vehicles will be on sale for the next few decades and there are virtually no competitors. So why hurry?

Wonder why Tata is so complacent. Instead of a random French van, they could have used the toolings of a previous generation Japanese van and sold it properly against the Traveller. Heck, Toyota/Nissan would grab atleast a quarter of Traveller's sales even if they launch the Hiace/Urvan at double the price. But nope...

Re: Force Motor's next-gen monocoque bus, the T1N unveiled

Every week since last 3-4 years, I see T1N test mules on road as the Force motors falls on my route to my office. I still wonder why it is taking so much time to launch? I know they do not have strong R&D, but they should not miss the bus.

Force Motors unveils the ‘Urbania’ van - Please continue the discussions in this thread.
