....is not a car, but this 3 wheeler named Teja. Available in cargo and three/six seater versions.

I am assuming a quadricycle with a similar small diesel would be the next logical step.

We'd known that Subbu was a wise man. Now we also know that he's a cautious man.

Well, they didnt say exactly what their low cost offering would be, did they?
Because this three wheeler sports a steering wheel and a floor mounted 4-speed shifter, I see another ACE in the making, if they add the fourth wheel.

this was in making for nearly 3 years. According to my friend who works at mlr, these are pilots to test the car assembly line.
Yeah, they stripped almost every other 3 wheeler and mini cargo vehicle like Ace to come with this one.

Teja! Ahem... I fail to see where this thing will lead them on its own. If they plan to offer this in the market there is every likelihood that it will get drowned in the cacophony of the diesel three wheeler market. It has no distinguishing feature from host of others, all of which look like carbon copies of each other. Arjun, Bijlee and god knows how many other such. In fact if I would have seen just the photos I would have said it looks like the minidor... or maybe the Bijlee...

Three wheeler manufacturers need to think a little out of the box and should come up with something that at least looks something different, IMO. That is if not in terms of NVH levels and haulage capacity.

Chinese to power Subbu vehicles

If Andhra Pradesh government officials are to be believed, that is so. MLR Motors, the company that Subbu has set up along with M Lokeshwara Rao of Lokesh Machines to make micro-commercial vehicles and a small car, has finalised technology from Wuling for the micro-commercial vehicle and the Fiat Uno engine for the small car, they say.

SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co. Ltd. (SAIC-GM-Wuling), is a three-way joint venture between GM Shanghai, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), and Liuzhous Wuling Automotive Co. Ltd.

MLR Motors, which already makes a three-wheeler autos under the brand name Teja, is looking to roll out a micro-commercial vehicle later this year to compete with the Tata Ace and the Bolero Pikup.
