Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Thoroughly enjoyed every bit of your adventure as if we were also part of it. For some reason, reminded me of the Hardy Boys books I used to read as a kid.

Keep up the good stuff. Would love to buy you a coffee sometime and listen to more adventures.

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Amazing Funkykar! If I had a friend who'd ask me if I could travel 250km to check out a truck, and then drive it 1000km to deliver it, I might've blocked him! But then I wouldn't have a fun story like this to post anywhere, thanks for the wonderful read.

Man, this is one terrific journey!

I am sure this thread might make some of the BHPians OLX for a 4x4 407.

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Great write up and videos. Reminded me of my monsoon drivers in Malnad.

My mind is racing with the numerous possibilities one has with a 4x4 truck. Please do share the owners ideas and some specs of the 407.

Funkykar, I just finished reading your 407 experience and I enjoyed it so much. Loads of laughter assured for anyone who reads this. When one can enjoy so much by just reading this, I can only try to imagine the fun you’ve had with the experience of it. Hats off to you and your mates for taking up this crazy journey.

Amazing journey.
Very beautifully captured by photos as well as by text.
You guys seem to me like members of the Le Mans team.

Easily one of the most unique and best trip reports I had read in this forum or elsewhere. What a great experience you had with your friends!

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Woaaaah!!!!! Driving a 4X4 407 1000+ kms!!! Thats some serious passion sir! First your car collection, then your scooter collection and now this! GTO rightfully said, you are living it up!

I used to think I was crazy enough to drive a Nano 1000+ km, but guess I am pretty well off and within the limits of sanity!! :P

Seriously, it takes a lot of courage and confidence to do such a thing and that too without any major incident! And what makes it even more great is the details with you have pen down everything! Thank you for sharing this epic, one in a life time journey with everyone!

Driving in two cars to drop off one of them and return back in the other would itself comprise an entire trip for most of us. And to think that it was just a small part of the whole scheme of things is simply amazing!
Loved the pics and fully enjoyed reading your posts! I honestly didn't know the existence of a 4X4 TATA 407!

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Wonderful thread! This is one of the most unique thread in the forum. Enjoyed every line of the write up. I have just traveled as a passenger in a 407 once while getting a huge Ganesha idol for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in our gated community and what an enjoyable experience it was. Even SUVs like Fortuner used to appear like a tiny hatchback from it’s cabin.

Also nice to see Aditya Hemmige after a long time. I had met him in Madhugiri TBHP meet way back in 2012/13.

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Excellent write-up with some nice pics taken during this journey. You kept me engaged from start to end.

For the kind of experience you have in used market, I think your friend was spot on in asking you to deal with this purchase. And it worked out nicely for him and some amazing experience for you.

And glad to see you explore my neck of the woods. Nongu sarbath and chevvelani( orange tender coconuts) make me miss my home already.

Re: A rare Tata 407 4x4 | 1300 km road trip

Wow, what a thread, I really enjoyed reading it! I always dreamt of driving a truck, I used to have a Tata 407 toy truck along with my Tata Sierras and other toy cars when I was a kid. What is more exciting is finding a 4x4 Tata 407 truck.

I enjoyed your write up and could relate to every line you posted, I actually felt as if I was also travelling in that truck along with you guys while reading all your posts. Just like how in a well made movie, the movie characters will have an impact and would be remembered for a long time, I will remember this write up, pictures, videos and all your friends (Sujith, Chethan, Arun1100, Varun) for a very long time.

The propeller shaft fiasco reminds of our very own experience with our 1992 Red Sierra way back in 1997, near Mantralayam, A.P. The propeller shaft bolts broke paralyzing the vehicle. When the driver accelerated in gear, the car wouldn't move, the headlights were glowing much brighter than normal. The vehicle had to be towed to Raichur as it was the nearest place to get repaired. Anyway, yours was one hell of an adventure, and every enthusiast's dream to drive one LCV in one of the road trips like these.
