Jet Airways inducts Boeing 737 aircraft for completing proving flights

Jet Airways seems to have one more check done to bring it closer to the restart of the airline. The airline has been assembling a team together to get the proving flight done, which it needs for receiving the Air Operators Permit from the Indian regulator. Jet Airways’ official social media handles, recently tweeted about the airline getting closer to its proving flight.

This would indicate the airline’s crew is all set to demonstrate that it is ready and trained, to be able to operate under various circumstances to operate a flight. Today, the second part of that puzzle was sorted, when Jet Airways’ 2.0 CEO Sanjiv Kapoor confirmed on Twitter that the airline has been able to induct a Boeing 737 aircraft, which will be used to conduct the proving flights, etc. VT-SXE is a 15-year-old airframe, which has been in storage since December 2021.

Ironically enough, it is an ex-Jet Airways aircraft, which was taken over by SpiceJet, which will now return to Jet Airways’ new avatar to help with the proving flight operations. Not just that, Jet Airways has also received the 9W identifier for its flight operations again. This means Jet Airways will start operations with the 9W code again, whenever it does, in the next few months.
VT-SXE was formerly VT-JGU in Jet Airways service.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

Jet Airways operated a positioning ferry flight from Hyderabad to Delhi yesterday using VT-SXE. This was not the proving flight that is yet to happen.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

Wondering if they will compete in full service or low cost space. They are really coming back at a weird time with soaring fuel prices, AI privatized and economic revival still in doldrums. Another classic case of rotten management taking down an established firm. Until its wind down, Jet was the only survivor from the early private players of the modern Indian aviation.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

Jet Airways Staff Association challenges Jalan-Kalrock consortium resolution plan for Airline before NCLAT.

Quote:
In its petition before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), the association has prayed for complete payments of the gratuity, unpaid wages, privilege leave encashment, bonus from April 2018 to June 2019 and retrenchment compensation to all workers and employees
Quote:
the association has demanded that any employee re-hired by the resolution applicant, or the Monitoring Committee are paid their gratuity, unpaid wages, privilege leave encashment, bonus, and retrenchment compensation as per their entitlements and that any signed document for the waiver/forfeiture of these amounts not be enforced against them.

Currently, the airline, which is expected to restart services in the coming months, is managed by the Monitoring Committee.

The airline is forcing workers to waive all their statutory rights they are owed, particularly gratuity, privilege leave, unpaid salary, and bonus, the association claimed.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

As someone who's been flying Jet Airways since the age of 13, I am delighted and nostalgic at their return. In the age of LCCs, the concept of a full service airline seems to have been conveniently forgotten. Personally, I have just about had enough of paying extra from a boarding pass to a seat with extra leg space. Now no more.

With a fine and capable CEO at the helm this time, I am looking forward to booking with them (and hopefully redeeming my JP Miles!) at the very earliest. Hopefully they don't order/lease 737 Maxes like a rival airline or two of theirs did, heh!

All rise for the king.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

I wish they are able to fly again.

More importantly for me, personally, I wish they return back the booking amount that got caught up in their shutdown process.

A mint fresh A320neo in Jet Airways livery. Is it for real, only time will tell. I'm not sharing the snap as it is copyright protected. Picture taken by Mr. Mark Remmel.

It is real. It was snapped by Jan Severijns as well at Maastricht / Aachen Airport as well.

Re: Jet Airways to fly again!

I feel the jet airways livery looks better on the A320 than the B737
