The Omni pick up van was launched in the late 80s in India and I remember seeing newspaper ads for the same. I think it never took off.

Yeah! I saw it too, long time back running around in delhi, but ACE is diesel and the running costs are quite low.

I heard (or maybe it is just another gut feel) that M&M were developing a competitor to the Ace, which has created a new market (unconfirmed - but I heard this is over 60000 vehicles per year). I'd be surprised if M&M have already launched it.

Sometime ago, they launched this (below) - a pick up version of the over lengthened MaXX, at about 3.5Lakhs

Dear All,

The vehicle shown is Premier ROADSTAR,

the specs are as follows

4 Cyl, 1527 CC
59HP @ 5000RPM

Its a 1.4 tonner chotta truck...

with high ground clearance and high speed its best option for inter/intra city transportation.

1) For city usage, IMO, CNG is not a bad option. Its quite economical and now widely available too ( of course relatively ).

2) Maruti Omni is one of the most overloaded vehicle in our country. Since its launch, this car is utilized for carrying upto 10 passengers. Sometimes its even more. And not to forget that Omni Cargo is available in India and that too is overloaded to the max.
Its quite common to see overloaded Maruti Omni. So this car can take a beating as far as overloading goes.

well, in India, where ever Maruti goes, it will create its own market, and it become a tough challenger for any company.

My take is, it is Raavi spelt as Ravi. Raavi is one of the 5 rivers that make up Punjab.
