Hi All,

Came across a clever example of desi jugaad, during visits to farms

Farmer uses old scooter (engine) to power a pump's motor to pump water mixed with fertigation chemicals to his drip irrigation system

Traditionally they use electric pumps, but with limited electricity supply situation nowadays, this makes a lot of sense

This is quite a common practice across rural India. Gear ratios do help a lot to attain good water pulling power.
But wouldn't quite recommend it. This method isn't that efficient.

I think nothing beats the Indian Jugaad. Necessity is definitely the mother of invention.
