Re: Mid-Air collision at Dallas | A tragic air show

Makes me sad for the lives lost, Om shanti. Brings me back to the day (oct 2002) when in Goa, Navy lost 12 crew plus 3 on ground after 2 IL 38 maritime aircraft collided mid-air during silver jubilee celebrations of squadron and also 30,000 hrs of accident-free flying. Lost my close friends including my course mate. Though nice to look at formation flying from below but can be risky.

Re: Mid-Air collision at Dallas | A tragic air show

The NTSB has just released its preliminary report on this crash:

https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/a...ort/106276/pdf

Not to much detail. But what is very telling;

There were no altitude deconflictions briefed prior to the show. From what I know, that is very unusual. The airboss needs to ensure that all pilots have assigned altitudes during these sort of manoeuvres.
