So this was just a private purchase by Adani Group. I was wondering how BYD can sell CBUs in the market despite huge customs duty.

I am quite uninformed about electric trucks. What would the applications for this platform be? To me, the range looks a bit too short?

In this case, probably in the Shipping Port where containers are hauled.
I would say that is a great use case for electrification.

Other applications I can think of are:
i) Open pit mining where the truck goes to the bottom of the pit to haul material. This is already being done.
ii) Garbage collection trucks which have to stop frequently.
iii) Intra-city trucks which are going from point to point.

For the long range ones, I think Siemens' solution of pantograph is one good solution for this problem.

They will most likely be used inside the ports to haul containers around after containers are offloaded from the ships.

Using electric trucks is a wise choice for this application.

They are being loaded on to regular trailer trucks for transportation.

These would probably used in port and would be recharged every couple of hours.

Hope they have setup a fast charger grid in the port to reduce the turn around time.

As an aside, in Madras the entire garbage collection within the city is done with little clean electric mini trucks. Makes a lot of sense.
They are named Urbaser. Probably a combination of Urban and Service.
This is a nice way for any and every city to move to reducing emissions.

I believe they will be used near to the ports where the round trip will not exceed 10km, if these trucks have a 250km range, they can be used for atleast 20 trips, which will be more than a days work.

They do not require recharge every couple of hours, it's obvious they will install couple of fast chargers, at any given time of the day couple of trucks are recharged as they will be used in 24×7 operations.
