There has been a sudden rise in the number of CNG buses catching fire. Three incidents have been reported in this month alone, with the latest one taking place earlier this week in Andheri.

In wake of the recent fire incidents, BEST has decided to take all Tata CNG buses operated by M/s Mateshwari Ltd. off the streets till Tata Motors and the operators take necessary corrective measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future.

BEST has 3,619 buses in its fleet, which include 2,927 CNG-powered buses. It also operates 266 diesel buses and 426 electric buses.

Re: BEST takes 400 CNG buses off roads due to fire risk

Sirs, any reason why these specific 400 buses were taken off the roads. Its just under 15% of the CNG fleet. It would be in the interest of safety if commoners and passengers know whats wrong and what to look out for.
