Scoop! Force Gurkha-based goods carrier spied testing

Force Motors recently launched the 5-door version of the Gurkha in the Indian market. Well, two more iterations of the Gurkha are in the works. Last month, a dual-cab pickup was spotted, and now there are spy images of a goods carrier.

The Gurkha-based light commercial vehicle (LCV) was spotted testing in Pune. While the front looks like a Gurkha, the rear section has been replaced with a large loading bay. The test mule is also fitted with the same 5-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels that are offered on the SUV.

The Gurkha LCV could use the same 2.6-litre diesel engine as the standard Gurkha. It produces 90 BHP and 250 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Given the off-road capabilities of the Gurkha, the LCV version would be ideal for last-mile deliveries in remote areas where the road infrastructure hasn’t developed yet.

Thanks to Sanket for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing them with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP share page!

Force is trying to be the RE for 4 wheelers dishing out different styles, all based on one chassis and one engine ! They are not succeeding

What is Force trying to do here? They lack no vision and direction in their product planning and strategy.

- Saw couple of "Urbanias" during my recent trip to Munnar and they looked more upmarket than the Gurkha. Almost too good for a commercial people mover used by hotels industry

- The 2024 Gurkha's interior plastics are pathetic to say the least, reminds me off the "share-auto" rides

- This pick-up trip doesn't warrant a red color body and alloy wheels, right?

"Parts bin" engineering (not sure if I got the word right) is fine if you do it perfectly. Else you end up creating models like this.

A lot of the Gurkha's sexiness comes from its design & image. But if you make it a "tempo", that's really going to put off a lot of buyers.

This is being pennywise & pound-foolish. Force should work on enhancing the Gurkha's image, not killing it.

If someone even suggested a Thar Tempo at Mahindra, he'd be fired.

If it has 4wd, it will make a good all purpose motor home, though.

True but at this point I guess they are trying to cut their losses because their expected customer base isn't buying it. And I expect that no one will until they figure out how to make an interior from this century.

Gurkha customers will not be happy with this decision and it is not even good for the company as they will possibly lose their goodwill.

Lets look at it from a different angle. How about export markets? Gurkha has a good base in Nepal and perhaps, it is being tested for that? Also, the number plate is housing between what looks like follow-me lamps for army utilities.

This is suicidal!! Just kills the excitement - I would not want to be caught driving a "passenger version of a truck!"

Why did Force have to go to this length and throttle their most anticipated product?
