The Safari has had that dated look for a few years rather like shell suits, Action trainers and double breasted suit jackets (unless you are Canadian or Albanian in which case shell suits etc are still fashionable).

Hopefully with this new platform Tata will have a Safari replacement that will look good for another decade.

I had similar thoughts also the Tata pickup looks much better than the Scorpio based offering from Mahindra.

The 'Getaway' would have probably 'Gotten-away' by now.

Xenon

It is indeed a class above anything that Tata offers today...

Good find

I dont get it, why Tata treats us like 2nd class and exports every new model first and then offer the cars over here later. I hope this one dosent fails in the export market like the rest of the previous models of safari and sierra. In UK, Indica was a disaster when the resold the car under the Rover badge and helped creating a very poor image for Indian cars. But things are improving for sure by looking at the new models by Tata.

Do agree with the rest about the design similar to the warrior pickup.

Its good this way.
Tata used Indians as "First class guys" and introduced the indica here. So who suffered the V1, we people.
Now this second option is better. Let the Europeans suffer the V1 and we will take the V2

Generally correct, but that unfortunately didnt stop the 2.2 Dicor with initial problems. Apparently all those reported problems were finally solved a week back from yesterday according to a dealer here.

Another way of seeing it is they are making trying it on others than on Indians so people abroad are actually guinea-pigs

Isn't the TATA engraved tailgate too smack in the face? Or is it there to dissipate the monotony of having a flat tailgate.

This pickup is obviously much better than any other pickup ever sold in this country including Mahindra Getaway. The question which Tata will be more bothered though is whether the Xenon is good enough for Thailand, the second biggest pickup market in the world and the backyard of the Japanese.

The pickup market in India is still in its infancy. So we cant blame Tata alone on there slow launch in India.
