Spotted a Tank(?) on GQ near Hosur

We were on the way to Pondicherry last week when we spotted this Tank(?) near Hosur on the GQ. There were 2 trucks with this cargo going towards Bangalore. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Mods: Please move to appropriate thread if reqd

many

Seen couple of those trucks with tanks payload parked on the left near the sarjapur-ORR junction signal on ORR along with other trucks which were not allowed to enter city limits during day time. And they weren't even covered.

Am surprised that Military Tanks are transported on private Trucks, so far I had seen only Military trailers carrying Tanks.

Moves like one too - on a truck!

OT could these be the new Arjun Tanks that the Army has just so reluctantly ordered 124 of?

Any idea where these are heading to?

I think we need some of these for our (so called) roads. Crushing off all the pesky autos and cabs.

By the way any idea what would be their average(in or out of city)? And what is the power and TORQUE?

We have seen few of them on duty near Pokran. They way they cruise through desert looks like they are ships sailing in arabian sea. One of them was covered with sand till its neck.

Autocar India had tested the Arjun tank once and mileage which they were informed about was 6 liters of gasoline per kilometer! I tried to search for that road test on the autocar India website but looks like they have removed it.
