Normal is 3x2
Executive is 2x2

Bigger seats. Better meals.

Thats it.

Ticket cancellation happens automatically after chart preparation for both GNWL and TQWL.

However, when it comes to preference of allocation in waitlist, GNWL is given more priority over tatkal. Better to have a GNWL over TQWL

I have RLWL of 4 for next Saturday 27-Jul from Pune to Chennai on a train from Mumbai on 2nd AC. Can someone help me on chances of getting confirmed.

I have not travelled in Train for sometime since this is personal travel booked a Waiting list ticket 1 month ago and it has not moved since the date of booking.

GNWL and RLWL quota wait list have higher chances of getting confirmed than TQWL and PQWL.

So you have a good chance of getting a confirmation on your wait list.

You can check the current status of your booking by clicking on the 3 dots and then there will be an option of Current Status which will show you the current status. If you only check in my bookings, it will still show the original status while booking only. This is for the IRCTC mobile app but I am sure there will be similar option on the website as well.

You can refer this YouTube video for steps on irctc app

Thumbrules:
1. If you have an end to end ticket on a train, prolly higher chances of confirmation of WL tickets.
2. What you have is RLWL (Remote Location WL) - the confirmation depends on how many seats in that particular train fall in RL quota for Pune.
3. In continuation, count of seats will depend on no of 2AC coaches that the train has. Higher the number of coaches, higher the chances of confirmation.
4. How well the train is patronized? If the train is very popular, lower chances of confirmation (e.g. try getting a confirmed ticket in 12367/68 vikramshila express). Also, WL movement to confirm depends on the peak/off season.

On side note - RL or PQ WL will show lesser movement usually.

Try posting the PNR on indiarailinfo website for Remedies
1. Try tatkal for your travel scheduled on 27th jul and hopefully secure a confirm ticket.
2. Look for available tickets (current) post charting. Usually seats become free post charting.

Thanks Sagar, Xenon and Sharan for your suggestions and replies.

I checked IRCTC current status which is matching with Ticket booking status of RL WL 4.

Someone suggested Railman predicts better on WL tickets, it gives me 70% chance and Ixigo gives me 90% chance. So I will wait to see how it unfolds.

I understand Remote Location WL has less chance and also released only in the last day or while charting when EQ and Foreign Quotas get released.

Will keep you all posted by this week.

My Ticket got confirmed the morning at 9.30 AM for 4.25 PM ticket. The train was relatively free and even had vacant seats from Solapur. I was travelling from Pune to Chennai.

One usual information for all of us here is- I was talking to TTE during my onward journey asking about my chances to confirm. He told a few things which would be useful to all

1) During weekends and major holiday many EQ will come and hence chances of confirmation are less.

2) Always try to book from Originating station to Destination

3) If there is a definite need to book a WL ticket, recommendation is to go to a booking center and book tickets because that has higher priority than Online ticket as it is easy to Refund online tickets.

Thank you for sharing this information as it will surely help other members.

Noticed a very weird fact - I was booking a ticket from Bangalore to another tier 2 Karnataka town for a trip 2 weeks ahead. I had checked availability a week ago and it was showing 3 SL seats available. When I finally booked today morning, availability was 1 SL seat; which I got confirmed.

A friend agreed to join me so I just initiated the process again a few mins ago; assuming he'll atleast get a RAC ticket; but now the status is WL 17. There's no way that 17 additional bookings (+ x RAC seats) happened in a matter of 4 hours when the needle moved only by 2 over a week.

Anyone can explain how this happened?

It may be possible that the total WL quota is for GNWL in the subject train and there is no RLWL/PQWL/RSWL
