The Indian Armed Forces...Army/Navy/Airforce Vehicle Thread

Hi All,

Wanted to start a thread on the different Vehicles used by our "Armed Forces".

Posting some of the pics that i have with me on the same..

p.s mods pls let me know if this thread is approved.

India Defence Expo 2008..showcase "Tata LSV"

Tata Motors launched Tata Light Specialist Vehicle (LSV), at the Defence Expo 2008, New Delhi. Tata Motors LSV comes with a 1.2 tonne payload, built to latest military standards, and is a single platform to undertake diverse missions such as reconnaissance, counter insurgency operations for special forces and even as an ambulance. The Tata LSV's versatility enables it to perform on the major parameters of mobility, survivability, stealth, lethality, transportability and maintainability as per the demands of the modern military force.

The Tata Light Specialist Vehicle has an adaptive automatic transmission, 60% gradeability, 300 mm vertical obstacle climbing ability, 45% approach angle, 45% departure angle, 255 mm ground clearance. The vehicle can operate in a temperature range of –20 degree to +55 degree Celsius. The maximum speed of the vehicle is 105 km/hr.

High Mobility Vehicle 8x8 and LATC:

The second and third pics are of the HMV 8x8 !! can you beat that, all the offroaders were till now tripping on 4x4 and now we have a 8x8 in India...

i think he meant force motors.. you know tempo traveller ,trax,excel judo etc etc

they have some good army vehicles too

nice thread.. somethign different from usual, are we allowed to post pictures of the Army vehicles that we see on roads? Is it allowed to click pics of those?

I stay very near to BEML Factory in Bangalore. Everyday I see many Armed vehicle is parked/Testing on the Road. Next time I see I will take pic and post here... Those are really a giant one.

hmm...ya that crossed my mind too..well ya Force did have vehicles on display too...dont rem the names of the models but sure will post them soon..

you are very lucky if you get to see those vehicles @ sowmya..i fancy these huge mosters and would be nice if you could post some pics of the same.

sure, why not @ fx45..thanx and we can have a lot of pics in this thread so that we know where we stand..

Good effort by Tata. However 8x8 is not new to India, the Military has been using them extensively for decades, and their truck of choice is the Tatra one (one of the best and classic designs in the world) that is assembled by BEML.

Just saw some Army DCM Toyota's getting scrapped in Mumbai and some 1210Ds too and also saw Navy inducting EICHER 11.10 LCVs here in Mumbai.

IA's TATRA truck, seen on Kerala Roads. Picture quality was bad as i was in a moving bus.

saw this truck on highway mysore road its a tatra truck i belive, the front snap got bit too shaky

As compared to the TATA vehicle, the M&M AXE still looks more butch, i bet if you saw one in your RVM tailgating you car it would scare the **** out of you.

As mentioned by Parm the TATA vehicle does seem inspired by the Mercedes G Wagon.
