I wonder that it is not more popular generally.

It is ugly, but having travelled in one I agree with all the above positive remarks.

For a city like Mumbai, Logan and Indigo Marina's make a lot of sense. For airport/rly station runs, Indigo Marinas make a lot of sense. However, other city commute; Logan or Esteem can also run.

I prefer the Indigo Marina's (Mega Cabs) as are more comfortable as compared to the present Yellow-Black cabs. I also prefer/book it via mega cabs is because Meru's inability to provide the customer an option of selecting from its versatile fleet (Logan/Marinas and Esteems) in Mumbai. How am I supposed to carry my luggage to the airport in the Esteem with no roof carriers?

Which (5-6 lac) sedan is best suited for Taxi operations in INdia?

Just wanted a view from BHPians as to which sedan they would vote for the intercity (and highway) taxi operations in India. Please keep the base model (diesel version) of these cars in mind while polling.

IMO, nothing beats Logan Diesel in terms of space and practicality. I happened to hire a logan 'cool cab' recently for airport transfer and to my surprise it accomodated 5 adults and 2 children, 3 international size suitecases & 4 bags with utmost ease, that too without a luggage carrirer!

I would think the indigo marina is the ideal car for a taxi. You should have put that in the poll although i am not aware about it's exact pricing.

I would say Logan Diesel to be the first choice. Indigo Marina should be the second choice.

The Indigo is the best option as of now. Its got decent space and an adequately powered engine and is also easily maintainable.

I would consider the Amby too as it is a car built for the indian roads and when it comes to comfort there is nothing like it for our road conditions.

Amby for me for its space and easy repairs.

but Logan diesel would be ideal for it being more modern shape compared to the amby.

i would say logan. reasons:
1) interior space
2) boot space
3) great fuel efficiency
4) nice ride quality

without dobut . . . logan .
its a great car , and you will have a lot of "peace of mind" with the car .
cant depend on amby / indigo - it can break down any where & ford is too expensive to maintain.

else look at a lancer . . . thought a bit more expensive

Agreed,

Indigo / Marina would be the ideal for Taxi.

Indigo will be suited for a routine Taxi, as Marino is ideal for people having more luggage.

As it is Indian we must put it ahead.

If they are allowed for Taxi, I hope the *** will improve.

I feel Logan , is the best and only good enough to be a taxi. I can't possibly imagine people buying Logan for anything other than Taxi, unless they want to buy a big car with less money with lot of biege in it.

1) A similar thread exists : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...operators.html

2) Here I have voted for Ikon TDCi. Good FE and good, spacious rear seat. Even though the car is low, rear seat is not that uncomfortable as compared to Accent.
Excellent car as a taxi and the driver will also enjoy it. Also a reasonably capable cruiser as the weight is not much adds to value.

EDIT : DCEite had posted the link of the other similar thread earlier.

My vote goes to the Amby Diesel (2.0L). Suitcases, bags, holdalls, adults, kids, pets... just keep 'em coming and the Amby is cavernous enough to swallow everything. It's the car with the POOREST driver comfort, but the BEST rear-seat passenger comfort. For the taxi owner, it offers the cheapest service costs, and even though it rattles, it gets you home. One rarely finds it broken down (such as with a collapsed front suspension, or being towed). Even MPs and ministers are happy to ride it. A white Amby has BRAND value!

though I have voted for lOGAN, indigo too is good. XL is even better. I recently hired a meru cab and they sent a XL. what a leg space. Me at 6'2" happily stretched my legs as far as i could.
