I would go with Indigo XL followed by Logan Diesel because of its shear space in back seat.

Logan. lots of space, good boot and a decent ride. Who cares if its a little unexciting for the driver.

Ikon TDCI for me. Brilliant refined Diesel , looks better than Logan, good rear bench might not be as roomy/wide as Logan but quite good with excellent pricing.

Ikon TDCI for me as well. Its got a nice rear seat, quite a nice boot, its will make driving a business to have with pleasure for the cabbie. What else the engine is frugal, spare part prices have rationalised over the years, the car itself is robust being based on the Mark V Fiesta it did not have to comply with easy to crumple front end regulation to prevent pedestrians.

Ikon 1.8D was quite popular with the yellow plates.

Logan comes a close second for me.

The Amby might have loads of space and the cheapest spares, but the constantly bobbing of the rear suspension is a tiring thing in the car.

WagonR Duo

When I was in Mumbai over the weekend. I saw a couple of WagaonR Duo's which were parked outside hotels near Juhu. They were the new cool cabs. The cab I took(which was an Indica), the driver mentioned that some people prefer using the WagonR to the Indica.

Logan is the one. But compared to Indica its expensive.

Another option is Wagon R for conjested cities.

Based on my limited knowledge of the Indian market, I'd say something with a big trunk and a higher payload.

So maybe the Renault Logan or the Indigo XL. Or they could actually move up a few segments and get the Chevy Optra or Hyundai Verna.

There are so many Indigo Marina Taxis parked under the WE flyover near Vakola Junction. Does anyone know what is the reason for that? There are almost brand new Indigo Marinas parked there.. most of them are registered but the biggest thing is that there are many of the Orignal parts getting chipped off by the locals i feel.. because many tiems i see.. them.. and some times some of hte cars headlights, or mirrors or decals are removed etc..

Finally someone did!! THANKS, avishar. The Amby should be a part of Indian heritage, protected under the National Mobile Monuments Act, 2010. How can anyone ignore it?

I think this was inevitable. saw a red quadrajet with yellow plates in the city.

Cant really blame them. space, FE, and great value. I guess the New Indica will suceed where the original left off in every possible way!
