I suppose you meant the prototype developed ones as per the pictures attached below, isnt it???Something like this would atleast look futuristic and neat. Also they could have added doors with glass windows to protect from rain & dust!!

May be competition will improve the future models of autos. Autos will continue to sell, and companies will make them, so long as the general public patronizes them. No use in cribbing about them.

At last these autos get seat belts which I feel is absolutely essential in Autos. BTW, I think it could have canvas sheets to protect from weather like current autos

good lord! ANOTHER one? Rickshaws and Pulsars remain the 2 biggest nuisances on the Indian road.

3 decades after this monstrosity went out of fashion in the rest of the civilised world, TVS chooses to join Bajaj in terrorising the Indian roads with this!

Why cant the nano replace the autos. It is all what an auto is- its cheap, rear engined with rear wheel drive and does offer good mileage. Above all its definitely a million times safer than an auto.

I have no idea whether it has a fibre tank. Even if it does, I am not sure it is illegal. Some Motorbikes had such tanks earlier in the 80's - the BSA Bond series, if I remember right.

The number of auto drivers waiting to switch to the Nano is legion! I am not sure whether Tata Motors will release it as a taxi though.

If they remove the doors, put a plastic wrap for rainy days and other things, they could make it even cheaper. But, please no petrol or diesel engines.
How about compressed air?

Comments by Rikshw owner

Yesterday got a chance to take a closer lookt at TVS king.Comments by Rikshw owner.
  1. he is getting milage of 35 Km/lit .
  2. Since 3 months he is using and very happy with the performance.says stability like car.
  3. Smooth gear shifts.Very good head light.
  4. And the body is very tought.Even one piece wind shield gives airy feel and good visibility.
  5. Very nice seat covers.Good quality matting.Good breaks.
  6. Overall owner was very happy with his rikshaw.
So at least bajaj has some competition.

PS:
Even the TVS Scooty new mahindra Rodeo has plastic fuel tanks and even the rickshaw has Plastic tank doesn's make any difference as its protected by the metal body.

Re: Long live the King! - pictures of a TVS King LX auto rickshaw

had an oppurtunity to talk to a rick driver about his king. HE said that the biggest problem was that the mileage was not up to scratch, and consequently resale has taken a big hit. This was in trivandrum. He said it was his mistake, and would not recommend others to buy it.
