Bangalore - Chennai: Not sure

Chennai - Hyderabad: Dhanunjaya, Orange, SRM, Kesineni. Most of the sleepers reach around 7 - 8 am at Hyderabad. Volvo reach much earlier.

Hyderabad - Bangalore: VRL is very good in this route.

Hope this helps.

Bangalore-Chennai:
My first preference would be Roadlink India. Sharma, KPN and SRM used to have AC sleepers, but don't expect KPN to maintain schedule.

Chennai-Hyderabad:
I've heard Kesineni is good. Others might have more info

Hyderabad-Bangalore:
Orange Travels offers excellent service. Dhanunjaya and HKB also are good options, based on experience

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

I saw most of the AC sleeper buses from Bangalore-Chennai completely booked or only last seats vacant. Hence booked on SRS multiaxle Volvo with 11 PM departure. Redbus has bad ratings for this bus on puntuality, however keeping my fingers crossed. However i am still trying my luck on TATKAL for Chennai-Hyderabad.

Meanwhile anybody can put light on the Telengana problems in Hyderabad, is it safe traveling in a bus Chennai-Hyderabad & Hyderabad-Bangalore?

Telengana-wise you should not have any problem, if it is Bus then the journey is going to be by night and there are no protests that happen in the night, if it is Train, then if there is a protest, your train should be the first one to have been stopped after the protests began!

The general mood is not of anger but disappointment and sadness so violence is under control

Pune - Hyderabad: Kesineni VL117: 19th October:

Had travelled on Wednesday to Pune by Air on Wednesday. Had to return back yday and flight rates were very high. Checked options in redbus. My first preference was HKB but bus was almost full. Kesineni VL117 had lots of seats and hence booked the same. The price was little expensive at 1050. The service was from Mumbai. Boarding was at Jehangir hospital at 9 pm. Reached the office at 8.30 and found that bus might reach around 9 15. The bus came around 9.15 and the bus was a B9R KA 51 xxxx with 581675 on its odo. There was only one driver along with a cleaner. Started after 10 mins. The bus was full. Seats were very good. Very well maintained bus. Crossed Hadapsar by 9.45 and reached Hotel Oasis on Solapur road by 10.30 for dinner. I didnot get out of the bus. I was really worried because of single driver. He might have driven earlier night to Mumbai with hardly any rest is on duty again. Man the driver was a gem, a middle aged guy who drove the bus very gently. No rash moves. Those who travel on NH-9 which can be officially renamed as Pothole highway 9 knows how diff it is to drive on Solapur - Hyd stretch. I slept and woke up around 3 am. The bus had stopped and driver was having tea and he started in 5 mins reached chandanagar at 6.15 am and I got down at Nizampet x road by 6.20 am.

I was completely taken surprised by this service. Neat bus, good driver no rash moves considering it being a Kesineni whose reviews are going negative nowadays. They should make sure there is another driver to give proper rest to both the drivers. This was the only negative point.

Is there a way we can complain to transport minister about the condition of the NH 9? So horrible. NASA can send their people to understand how the surface of moon will be?

Kesinenis are famous on the Mumbai Hyderabad route along with HKB,NTR and SVR. Maharashtra highway section and Karnatak section are worst hit on the potholes. I travel by 117 all the time.used to travel by 118 before but now shifted to NTR. Kesineni now runs a B11R for its last trip to Mumbai from Hyderabad.

How is NTR? I had an option of booking it, I was not sure about quality of their service? B11R departure at Pune was too late otherwise I wanted to explore B11R once and see how different it is than B9R.

Actually it's a shame to call it a NH9, so bad. How come nobody bothers about it? I travelled for the first time on road from Pune to Hyd and was shocked.

Bangalore to Tiruppur by KSRTC (KaSRTC)?

I need to travel from Bangalore to Tiruppur by bus, and would like to travel by KSRTC (KaSRTC). My search on their website didnt reveal any buses on that route, not even to Erode. Thats wierd, bcoz I am pretty sure there are buses on that Hwy (2 weeks ago I traveled from Koothatukulam (Kerala) to Bangalore by KSRTC Rajahamsa, and I'm pretty sure it came on that Hwy, which comes to within 5-10 miles of Tiruppur)

I was hoping I can get off in a closest town on the Hwy.

Would it help if I booked at KSRTC bus station directly instead of online?

The buses on the highway neither touch Tiruppur nor Erode. The highway bypasses both these buses. You might have to book a bus to Coimbatore which goes via Salem and get off at Avinashi. You'll then have to take another bus from Avinashi to Tiruppur. Its about 15kms from Avinashi to Tiruppur.

Alternatively, if you are okay with Private buses, there are enough options to Tiruppur, including KPN, RKG, etc.

You mean they go via Mettur?

Fair enough, your suggestion makes sense. Thanks.

On the return, I'll be coming with my parents from Koothatukulam wanting to go to Tirupur. I am looking for KSRTC buses from Koothatukulam to Coimbatore, and I cant seem to find any. Now what could I be missing?

Let me describe the whole situation instead of piecemeal:
I live in Blore. I need to go to Koothatukulam in Nov 1st week to escort my parents (who are there in a hospital) back to Blore. Need to break journey at Tirupur (have relatives there). I am considering one of the following 2 options:
- Involving my car for part of the journey: Self-drive car alone from Blore to Tirupur, park car there. Go by bus (KeSRTC? TNSTC?) from Tirupur to Koothatukulam. Bring my parents from Koothatukulam to Tirupur, and take them back to Blore by car.
- Bus all the way: Go by KSRTC alone from Blore to Koothatukulam directly (or I may break at Tirupur via Avinashi as you suggested). Escort parents back to Tirupur as stated above, and take them back to Blore by bus (TNSTC I guess).

Basically my parents cant take a long journey, neither by car nor by bus. Hence breaking journey midway at Tirupur where I happen to have relatives.

Mettur and Tiruppur is no way connected. The highway itself doesn't touch Erode or Tiruppur anywhere on its way. Erode is bypassed by passing through Chittode and Perundurai, while the highway never went through Tiruppur.

Koothattukulam is not a major town per se, and hence doesn't have reservation facilities for KeSRTC. There are buses via Koothattukulam to Coimbatore - two services from Kottayam and four from Kottarakkara. Better option would be to take a bus from Koothattukulam to Ernakulam, and take one bus from there. You might be lucky to find a comfortable bus to Tiruppur straightaway, or take one till Coimbatore. There are buses from Coimbatore to Tiruppur every 3-5 minutes.

NTR are also good. They I think along with Orange are the only travels that give you water bottle+chips packet+biscuits in 800 bucks. and all these are recent manufactured. Their buses are clean and leave right on time. For example if they say they will reach Miyapur at 8.45pm they reach by 9pm.the patch from Kondapur till Hafizpet is in total shambles and the traffic moves like a snail.
Staff are like any other bus travels. If you are nice to them they will be nice to you. the agents do act like kings and call you up to check if you reached the departure place.thats how it works. The 7.35pm NTR stops at Zee Dhaba just after the Zaheerabad railway crossing. In short the I shift helps in cruising through moon land.

NTR is my current favorite since it is I think the cheapest Volvo now on the route. If you book in advance you can go in 800 bucks. Kesineni now charges either 950 to 1050.

Re: Intercity Bus travel reviews

I have booked tickets in SVR tours' newly launched B9R sleeper service between Bangalore and Hyderabad. Has anyone used this service till now? Redbus did not have good reviews but went ahead with the booking as this is the only volvo sleeper in this route. Are there any images available of this service?
