Has Eicher come up with any rear engine bus. Tata, AL, Volvo, Kinglong all have come up with rear engine buses. To that matter small companies like Corona and Isuzu all have come up with rear engine buses, But where is Eicher. Are these guys sleeping.

It's not that simple to build a RE bus. And who said ISUZU is a small company?

Not sure about diesel, but petrol fumes can be fatal. Many people have died in garages with car running.

This was way back around 2007 when i had taken the day B7R from Mangalore to Bangalore...and that was the last time I ever took a private B7R...

about the fumes...all of us at the rear had problems breathing...and we couldnt even open the hatch as it was sealed due to rain water seeping into the bus!!!

BTW it was a Ballal Motors B7R

I had a similar experience with a Conti Travels Volvo during a trip to Coimbatore from Chennai. This door is located between the L & R rows of seats after the rear axle. I could smell the exhaust fumes, but more than that, the underside of my seat was getting hot. Their aircon was in full blast for the most part of the journey making it bearable.

Yeah, because there is no propeller shaft running front the front of the bus to the rear axles, there's a large amount of luggage space available under the platform. The luggage space is replaced by a low floor in city buses.

AFAIK, Eicher does have RE buses. I remember seeing a pic in T-BHP itself. https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/comme...ml#post1673028

I don't know if it's commercially available though.

What about the DTC JnNURM ULE buses to be supplied by TML & AL? Have they completed their respective orders? How's the performance of these vis-a-vis B7RLEs? We've seen enough of the TATA MARCOPOLOs. What about the AL ULEs? Are they pliable / motorable? Someone who had been to Delhi throw lights on the performance of these two & who's the winner in terms of driver & passenger comforts, FC, maintainability, etc.

Isuzu in India is still small. Now they have tied up with Swaraj Mazda and launched few models.

Eicher expanded from LCV segment to HCV segment and launched buses also.

When the JNNURM project was launched all manufacturers tried to get a good pie of it. Be it Volvo, Tata, AL. All got prepared and commercially launched RE models. But Eicher missed this opportunity.

In total JNNURM buses sanctioned, only a small percentage are RE buses. Still Eicher did not get a single order. So it is not just becuase Eicher lack a RE bus. Probably things will change once Volvo aquires majority stake or buy them out. Those who got Eichers in the past (e.g. KerRTC) had a tough time getting parts.

Even BMTC has Eicher. Not sure how they service their fleet.

But there are lots of private operators use EICHERS in CNI to ferry staff of various organisations including that of FORD & HYUNDAI. No idea how they maintain. May be managing with spares of AL buses

Around 2 years back BMTC took a number of Eicher buses after that I didnt see any new Eicher buses coming into its fleet.

Hex mobiles in Chennai offers a good service in chennai.:thumbs up
BTW for Ford the fleet operator is Senthamarai and they are fully inclined towards ALL and that too only with Irizar TVS bodies.
For Hyundai,Nokia,Hindu fleet is operated by Parveen Travels and they are switching over from ALL to Eicher.

In this thread we are supposed to discuss rear engine buses. Discussion deviated a lot

Eicher rear engine buses were in display at auto expo i had posted pics of them already.
its 149 HP engine and as per the manufacturer they have 300 buses confirmed order
