Exactly.. The tractor I booked today is Mitsubishi-Shakti MT180D Tractor This is one of the smallest tractors that ever produced in India with 18.5BHP 3cyl diesel engine (I'm not talking about tillers) and comes with 4WD (High and Low) and differntial lock and loads of excellent features. The company who produce this tractors are "VST Tillers Tractors Ltd.", this is a Joinventure between VST Motors (Remember India Garage) and Mitsubishi, Japan. My laptop is caught with issue and with the service guys, allow me to take one or two days to write a TD report with pictures as I need to download them from my mobile. Meanwhile, pay your visit to this url which says all about the tractor's techanical details. (checkout the applicaitons link too) ::** Mitsubishi-Shakti MT180D Tractor ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ******************************* |

You are right Maddy. We'll have to go for the conventional Farm tractors (the one's that make 33 HP or so, 4 cylinder). My Uncle who looks after the farms says PowerTrac from Escort is a huge hit back home in UP. We are now keenly considering that alongside the usual suspects from the Mahindra and HMT stable. Apart from the farming, the tractor will do duty on the road once in a while and we need something that can go atleast 30-35 kph (which the conventional ones should do comfortably in top gear). |

@Trammway - we have a mango farm too, but its in Gujarat, we recently purchased another tractor a few months ago, our old tractor is an escort and is over 15 years old, and still runs great, its just under capacity for us. We bought a 55 HP John Deere with power steering and 2wd, we were advised to go against the 4 wd as we didn't need it for farm work and would consume a lot of diesel. We didn't know too much about tractors because we are from Bombay, but the neighbouring farm people were very helpful. Will post some pics tomorrow, they are on the other computer. |

We currently have a hmt 5911 and it has been serving us well for the last 10+ years not matter what kind of load or tilling no issues what so ever. But that things fuel consumption is off the charts. For the ones that dont know tractor fuel consumption is usually calculated in number of liters in number of hours. :) But all things set aside so much tractor talk going on and no one mentioned the king "New Holland" tractors? :Shockked: |

I wish to buy a John Deere or the higher capacity tractors but the thing I wanted to try self farming and wanted to try something smaller to get the feel of it. Slowly I will upgrade my farm and equipments, may be the small tractor then converted to spray machine alone. |
